Bridal Buyer recently had the honour of spending the afternoon with American bridal expert Randy Fenoli at an industry event put together by Sutton Coldfield wedding dress shop Wedding Belles of Four Oaks.
The star of TV show Say Yes to the Dress regaled the room of retailers with his extensive experience in the bridal industry as well as voicing his thoughts on some key issues that affect many who operate in this business.
We have a full feature with the man himself in the November/December issue of Bridal Buyer, however as a little taster, here is what Randy thinks about some vital topics…
“When anyone asks me what the trend is I say everything… it’s boho, its sexy, its traditional, it’s short, it’s long, there are ball gowns, mermaids, leg splits, splits down the front… so to talk about trends is kind of a waste of time.”
“I tell her, there are thousands of dresses out there but there are also thousands of other guys out there and you stopped looking when you found your fiancé, so at some point you have to stop looking.”
“It’s so difficult to police photography and as soon as you turn your back they will snap away. Let them take the photo but explain it will look different than how it will look on the day with all the hair, make-up and accessories.”
“If they cancel the appointment then we charge them. They have to leave their credit card details when they call up and if they cancel we charge them $50.”
“Say ‘how much would you like to spend today’, so that it sounds better. On your website you should have a line that says what the price range of your dresses is.”
