Contrasting Fabrics

“Fabric trends include silks for draping, caressing, sweeping, layering, pleating and creating volume. Incorporating contrasting fabrics in the new season’s designs is also a trend, Pongees will be offering crisp structural tulles and organzas that will add drama to luxurious, lustrous satins and marocains; and layers of crepe de chine and georgette to increase depth and emphasise motion and movement.” Nick Moore, Pongees

Boho Brides

“The boho trend continues to dominate for 2018, with delicate lace, relaxed silhouettes and flowing dresses ticking all the right boxes for our brides. Vintage has had its day, but the 1970s have definitely been revived with the love for the boho trend, and we’re seeing lots of bell sleeves, higher neck lines and off-the-shoulder styles being popular for those festival loving brides. Separates have been popular for a while now and have definitely become completely equal in status to dresses! Having a range of tops and skirts means we can offer a bigger range of styles so separates are a great option! We also love bridal trouser suits at Rock The Frock & already have a few brides opting for either jumpsuits or trousers & tops for their big day.” Karen Whybro, Rock The Frock

Mix and Match Bridesmaids

“Luckily for all bridesmaids out there, the mix and match trend will be a big trend with bridesmaids dressed in different styles or colours that suit them. Keeping to the same or tonal colour palette or bringing the look together with similar embellishment detail keeps the bridal party looking in sync but each of your bridesmaids happy.” Rosanna Garden, Motee Maids

Graphic Lace

“Graphic lace and bohemian silhouettes wrap the brides in 2018, ruffles adding an air of breeziness and vintage to the look. Tulle, lace, chiffon and satin are mixed with transparency, net and stretchy fabrics to illuminate the feminine figure and transform the bride with a stunning appearance,” Anne Kathrine Rantzau, Lilly

3D Florals

“The trend for lingerie inspired dresses with floaty skirts is only set to become more popular. Off the shoulder sleeves and 3D floral embellishments or touches of heavy beading are very in. Brides are still enjoying the two pieces and detachable skirts that we saw a lot of in spring this year accompanied often with soft lace cropped jackets. Emphasis on back is also increasingly popular for us and works to complement high coverage at the front,” Designer Inmaculada Garcia

Pastel Shades

“Clean, classic modern styling is trending and we are showing architectural seaming with embroidery and beaded embellishments. Soft pastel colours, crepe and Mikado and soft construction are also popular.” Justin Warshaw, Justin Alexander

Sleek Styles

“Sleek, plain gowns in luxurious fabrics will become more popular as a balance to brides’ continued love of lace.” Martine Harris, Essense of Australia, Stella York, Sorella Vita

Oversized Bows

“Giant bows aren’t going anywhere. Expect to see them featured on footwear, clutch bags and dresses. We’re seeing that retro styles, in particular shorter style dresses teamed with statement footwear, are becoming popular again. With graphics, bright colour options and playful detailing on bridal accessories, the modern bride has a wide variety to choose from to capture this trend, heart motifs, beautiful and luxurious lace styles,” Richard Marsh, Rainbow Club
