Alan Hannah is an innovative wedding dress brand ran by husband and wife duo, Alan and Marguerite Hannah.

The brand was established in 1988 and since then it has gone from strength to strength. All Alan Hannah wedding gowns are proudly made in London and are available all across the UK.

What do we need to know about the brand’s history?

Alan Hannah has been established since 1990. Our designer Marguerite Hannah has been designer of the year on many occasions and also designs our MiaMia and Rita Mae collections.

All our Alan Hannah dresses are made exclusively in our own studio in London.

What will you be showing at White Gallery?

Alan Hannah, MiaMia and Rita Mae. Alan Hannah is known for impeccable cut and clean lines. This is couture level design and every dress is made for each bride to order. MiaMia has a more boho feel but with the emphasis on sculpture and silhouette.

Rita Mae is light and floaty and ideal for weddings abroad or more informal settings. For Alan Hannah, we will show 25 new styles, there will be 15 for MiaMia and 10 for Rita Mae.

Let us in to some design secrets for your upcoming collections.

Alan Hannah is doing so well with our classic silhouettes. Marguerite will be building on this success to introduce new shapes and fabrics but keeping to the ’less is more’ ethos. With MiaMia, we have had a fantastic response at Harrogate to our slinky crepe dresses, so we will be expanding this look but with more unusual fabrics and laces.

Rita Mae is heading in a new direction and there will be a lot more floaty skirts, sheer bodices and colour.

What inspires the designs?

Marguerite always designs a number of adventurous pieces which are influenced from her many artistic interests, but she also listens to our retailers.

She is aware of coming trends and influences from the wider fashion world, too, to keep ahead of the curve and make sure that all our labels are innovative and design-led rather than following an existing path.

What are you most looking forward to at White Gallery, and what would you like to say to retailers?

We can’t wait to see all our wonderful retailers and friends and to show our new collections. My advice to retailers would be to make appointments with your key suppliers and those who have worked well for you and given good support.

Concentrate on buying things that have individuality but are still commercial. There are so many generic products out there.

The latest Chinese fit and flare beaded dress will be available in hundreds of shops all competing on price.
