HBS 2020: Health & Safety on stands

We’ve spoken to HBS exhibitors to find out a little more about the changes they have made to their stands ahead of this year’s show.

There are only seven weeks to go until the doors open to the Harrogate Bridal Show 2020 and your suppliers are preparing to showcase their new collections at one of the only buying events of the year. Alongside their normal preparations, exhibitors are planning their health & safety measures to keep you safe while buying your gowns.

Just as retailers have adapted their boutiques to fit government guidelines, HBS exhibitors will be doing the same to ensure all visitors feel safe and comfortable at this year’s show. We spoke to the teams behind Ladybird and Eliza Jane Howell to find out what changes they will be making this October.

Richard Lill, Ladybird

This is such an interesting and important question, I believe we have to work as hard at getting back to normal as we do at controlling Covid 19. We have to get bridal going again, like the shops who need brides to restart their business, we as suppliers need our stockists to come and support us. Careful buying for the future is so important and HBS is still the best environment to do your buying.

We have thought through the presentation ordering process and made changes to make the experience as normal as possible. When customers arrive for their appointment, they will be asked to sanitise their hands meaning they are safe to handle our beautiful 2021 collection dresses. We plan to always have one of the team free to welcome any new customer who has not been able to make an appointment. We love welcoming possible new boutiques and having the opportunity to show them the true diversity of Ladybird. We have re-designed our stand, with four separate areas, each has a blank rail so we can gather up all the styles our customers are interested in. Every style has new clear labelling that can be seen from a social distance and has a photograph of both the front and back of the style shown on a model.

Each exhibitor has a maximum number of people they are allowed on their stand based on 4sq m/person, allowing us 20 including our team. Each customer will be working with one allocated member of the team who will be wearing a visor. We believe visors are the best choice as you can see our faces and both parties are protected. We know it may be a scary prospect, but with everything we and the organisers are doing at the fantastic new venue, is to make it an incredibly safe environement.

Andrea Cutts, Eliza Jane Howell

We are excited to showcase our Studio 54 collections to buyers this Autumn at the Harrogate Bridal Show. Arranging an appointment at the show is the best way to buy this year, as we will have the full collection on show, meaning you can see the intricate hand beaded wedding dresses and show stopping gowns up close.

Our stand will still be as glamorous as normal, but with a few essential changes.

We will be spacing our appointment times to ensure all buyers have the opportunity to see the gowns without having to worry about being too close to another stockist. We have also reduced the number of staff on the stand with only Myself, Gill and one model on the stand during each appointment.

We will have hand sanitiser available ready for each appointment and we will wearing beautifully beaded facemasks in true Eliza Jane Howell style.
