Ladybird reveal more about their three new collections ahead of The Harrogate Bridal Show 2019

Ladybird will be returning to The Harrogate Bridal Show 2019 and will have 12 collections on show including, Ladybird, Ladybird Plus Size and new for this year, Ladybird Couture and Ladybird Avant-Garde. As the longest established family owned and run bridal label in Europe, it has become synonymous with offering both quality and choice designs, at commercial prices.

We caught up with the brand to find out more about what we can expect from them at Harrogate this year.

How would you describe the brand identity?

We have 12 different brands that all have their own identities, but the common theme through them all is “Ladybird celebrates the diversity of women”. We pride ourselves on covering every major trend at a price point that fits with every bride’s budget.

Tell us a little about the collections you’ll have on display at the show?

We will have three new collections on show at Harrogate which includes Ladybird Couture and Ladybird Avant-Garde. The latest collections are spectacular and are inspired by what our brides and retailers ask for. Expect to see new exquisite laces contrasted with glitter tulle, chic chiffons and luxurious satins.

Following the launch of our collections back in April, we have worked extremely hard to refine it, taking the 400+ new designs down to 200, which retail from £450-£2500 RRP.

Style 420016 is already wowing brides across Europe and the UK. A beautiful boat neck princess dress in tulle with stunning lace appliqués. Its sensational construction gives the design an appeal that makes it suitable for any size bride. It’s a modern elegant gown that can be easily customised to bring any brides dream to life.

What trends should buyers be looking out for at the show?

Like many others, we follow trends but what retailers should be looking for is commercial dresses, whether they be new designs of old best sellers. Brides have no idea which designs are old and new when visiting boutiques, so it’s all down to the presentation of them in your store. Retailers should not only lookout for new trends but should also search for suppliers that are flexible and supportive, just like Ladybird.

Do you have some tips for buyers on how to best spend their time?

The Harrogate Bridal Show is the very best platform for retailers, as they get to see the world’s best bridal names all under one roof.

Our best advice is to make sure you make appointments before the show. Allow enough time but remain focused, it’s so easy to become distracted, run out of time and then have to make rushed decisions. Or even worse not place the orders you want and have to work from pictures or a reduced selection. For us, it’s the only opportunity for retailers to see such a large choice of our collections.

Why is attending Harrogate important for your brand?

We feel that The Harrogate Bridal Show is the best way for retailers to not only see what we can offer but also put us up as a direct comparison to our competitors. We love people and we love getting feedback, both good and bad! Only when you know both sides of the story can you make an informed decision, learn, progress and evolve into something better which is what we aim to do.

Finally, what future plans can you tell us about?

We introduced a new strategy back in 2018 and it paid off for us. We showed 12 consecutive months of growth in brides orders, resulting in most of our retailers achieving positive sample investment return and growth. We welcome any new enquiries, but we try to protect our retailer’s business, so we only take on new stockists if they are in the right area.
