Soft tulle and sequins

The bridesmaid market has moved on leaps and bounds over the last few years. Gone are the days of identical maids in starchy taffeta gowns and in with the lightweight tulle skirts and super glam sequins. We take a look at some of the bridesmaid options that’ll be on offer at The London Bridal Show.

Mori Lee has its finger on the pulse when it comes to what the bridal party are after and offers a selection of dresses specifically aimed at those looking for lightweight options. Tulle Affairs provides a complete range of bridesmaid styles made with fine tulle netting, from strapless pleated bodices with full tulle skirts to knee-length tulle styles with lacy sleeves and keyhole open backs, this range is perfect not just for weddings but for other special events. Colours range from fresh spearmint and pretty violet to rich eggplant and sophisticated navy.

High-end bridesmaid brand Belsoie by Jasmine has fashioned feminine and sophisticated looks using soft tulles in A-line silhouettes with gathering around the bust, which creates a flattering profile Meanwhile, Alexia Designs has used tulle to great effect, crafting crossover v-necks and adjustable overlays, as well as embellishing the fabric with beaded waistbands and jewelled belts.

Veromia Bridesmaids’ tulle multi-way dresses provide flexibility for maids with their cross-over pleated tulle bodices and gathered tulle ties. Or if the girls want something a little more playful then the label’s woven pleated short baby doll dress with capped sleeves could be a winner. Meanwhile, Ronald Joyce has used tulle to create volume and an air of lightness into its tea-length styles with options including three-quarter length sleeves or sweetheart necklines.

Allure

Tulle also plays a strong part in Allure’s bridesmaid collection with lace and layers of netting paired together to create a subtly beautiful silhouette. The label has used the soft tulle to create ethereal effects and has also mixed it with satins and laces that create stunning contrasts. Additionally, sequins are on the agenda for Allure, with elegant shimmering column sheaths in metallic shades.

Christina Wu Occasions is ticking all the boxes on bridesmaids this season with sequins and soft tulle playing a starring role. There are quite simply too many exquisite styles to mention but the tulle options include stylish short dresses with pleats and draping, stunning lace and tulle floor-sweeping gowns with scalloped edging and bodices married with twinkling beaded straps and off-the-shoulder flutter straps.

The sequinned options are super impressive and the photography is to die for. Sparkling sequins cascade to the floor in full-length dresses with sweetheart décolletages, bateau necklines, low cowl backs and pearl accents. If sequins aren’t directional enough for you then among the most fashion-forward options is a short faux two-piece, which would certainly not be refined to the back of the wardrobe after the wedding is over.

At Christina Wu the sequinned fabrics come in a range of colours from rose gold, blush and Champagne to Marine blue, claret and espresso.

Check out all these collections for yourself plus many many more at The London Bridal Show, which will take place at London Olympia from 6 to 8 March.
