The new Grace Philips label will feature a broad range of shapes, from structured fishtails to full circle ball gowns. The emphasis and focus of the designs is all about glamour, sexiness and structure. Big is back.

Hailing from the House of Mooshki design team, this contemporary sister label is at the opposite end of the spectrum to the vintage inspired tea-length designs you know and love.

“We wanted to create a label that appeals to the brides to whom Mooshki does not,” explained owner Vikki McCarthy. “The only crossover which we all agreed on was that the structure of Mooshki gowns, renowned the world over, should underpin the Grace Philips gowns. Our inbuilt bra and corsetry took years to refine and perfect and needed to be experienced by a wider market.”

She added: “The slinky styles that are currently featured on every Instagram post, Facebook page and blog are amazingly beautiful and intricate, however, Grace Philips wedding gowns are built with a structure to support the figures and curves of the women who may not be a size six and have legs so long they have their own postcode.”

The Grace Philips collection uses a selection of fabrics such as satin, charmeuse, tulle and Mikado to create pieces that ooze with understated glamour. “We wanted the fabrics and strong lines to be at the forefront of the designs with intricate beadwork playing a supporting role,” said Vikki. “Strong, contemporary silhouettes, fishtails using miles of fabric, full circle skirts that echo the sheer excesses of Dior’s New Look of 1947 and the extravagant details that complete, yet don’t overpower each design, are all key features of the Grace Philips label.”

She added: “Our inspiration has come from American actresses Sophia Vergara and Jayne Mansfield and our gowns are aimed at any woman who’s proud of her figure and flaunts it with a knowing naughtiness that no man can touch (apart from the groom of course!). The Grace Philips bride is confident, sexy and loves the feeling of being fastened into a couture gown made with fabulous fabrics, knowing she’ll be the focus of everyone in the room.”
