It’s no surprise that the pieces are so alluring, Debbie has been handcrafting exquisite pieces from her UK studio for over 15 years. With a focus on sustainability, detail and heartfelt artistry, her work speaks to a new generation of brides who crave both individuality and timeless elegance. Here, she shares the inspiration behind her latest collection, Reverie, the resurgence of birdcage veils, and the design philosophy that guides every stitch.

Reverie is all about ethereal, romantic forms and soft, dreamy movement. Debbie tells us that the collection was inspired by two key bridal trends: sculptural, minimalist gowns and the romantic aesthetic of 3D florals. “I’ve designed pieces to work with both styles, with birdcage veils at the heart of the collection. I love how instantly iconic they feel, and I wanted every bride to have the chance to wear one – whatever their venue or style,” she says. “The collection also includes floral and pearl earrings, and a range of headbands designed to mix and match with the veils, offering endless styling possibilities.”

Reverie is about taking an iconic style and reimagining it. “This is a collection for the modern bride who wants to break with tradition – starting with the chic, minimalist birdcage veil that has become one of my best-sellers – and elevating it with unexpected fabrics, colours, embellishments, and headbands.”

Inspiration & Provenance 

For Debbie, the design process starts with an idea, or sometimes she will see a beautiful material that sparks inspiration, and then she experiments with it until something magical happens. She tells us that, typically, she doesn’t sketch designs first. However, for Reverie the ideas were coming to her so quickly that she had to draw them for efficiency and clarity. “This shift actually helped reduce waste, as I could refine my vision on paper before committing to a physical piece,” she says. 

Provenance is an important factor. Every piece is handmade in England using the finest materials, crafted with care and a focus on sustainability. For Reverie, material selection includes a beautiful mix of natural silks and chiffon, eco-friendly sheer tulle, luminous pearls and luxury crystals. 

“It’s my first time using tulle for birdcage veiling and I love how ethereal and modern it looks,” explains Debbie. She tells us that she has also been working with an incredible artisan based in Italy who creates natural silk and chiffon florals using couture techniques. “Her exquisite pieces embellish some of the veils and earrings – and are a star feature in Florence, a beautifully soft, romantic, sculptural floral headband.” 

Current Trends 

While Debbie’s designs always have timeless appeal, she’s keenly aware of how bridal trends evolve. Right now, it’s all about the return of the birdcage veil – a once-niche choice that’s now stepping into the spotlight. “They can effortlessly elevate a simple, tailored outfit for a civil ceremony into something glamorous and iconic,” she explains. Increasingly, brides are also embracing birdcage veils as part of their main ceremony looks, drawn to their distinctive style and vintage-meets-modern feel.

Among the many pieces in Reverie, it’s the birdcage veils that anchor the collection – but this time, they’ve taken on entirely new silhouettes. From sleek, close-fitting ‘mask’ styles to fuller, blusher-style veils like Blossom, adorned with hand-appliquéd florals, there’s a freshness and fluidity to each design.
