Bridal Buyer meets Anna Vesty of Unbridled Studio to discuss the label’s chic yet cool V-neck gown, as well as their modern approach to wedding day fashion

With its elegant form, meticulous details and tactile fabric, it is easy to fall in love with the Farah dress by Unbridled Studio. The new label, which launched towards the end of 2023, has caught the attention of buyers, press and the wider fashion community thanks to its contemporary, yet timeless, aesthetic and customisation approach.
The collection offers a diverse range of pieces, which can be layered and worn in different combinations – dresses, skirts, tops, trousers – as well as additions such as sleeves, bows, collars and peplum ties. Designer Anna Vesty tells us: “The multiple combinations and ways to wear individual pieces allows lots of scope for customisation, the addition of separates and transformative layering pieces allows brides to build something that feels unique to them, making the whole styling process a very dynamic experience. Our studio also allows us to evolve and alter designs to make them specific to the individual.”
Anna tells us that the collection was conceived to be worn in a variety of wedding settings and be as at home at chic city ceremonies as in country manors and grand events. There is no one bride in mind through the design process, more individuals who: “have a really strong sense of personal style, but are happy to be taken on our journey.”
Turning our attention back to the Farah dress, the creation of the gown was a balance of intuition and a commercial decision. “Offering a variation on a V-neckline was essential but it needed to be modern and have a unique point of view within the collection,” explains Anna. “Everything that we put into work is very considered, and also needs to work with the existing pieces in the collection. Each design starts with sketching, creating the style Iines on the stand and draping the skirt silhouette.”
The gown’s beautiful form offers a flattering finish, and one that feels both soft and contemporary. The fitted bodice, with that stunning modern neck, has corset-like seaming that really contours the body. This is offset with a touch of volume provided by the skirt, creating a flattering hourglass silhouette. “The skirt is a sculptural tulip shape, we opted to offer this style without a train to highlight the beauty of its shape. It also makes this piece feel more modern, as do the addition of all important pockets,” says Anna.
In terms of fabric, the style is crafted from Unbridled Studio’s signature double satin – a core fabric in the collection. This is offered in two shades, for even more personalisation; Ivory and Alabaster to work with different skin tones and style preferences. “The double satin (as the name suggests) is double faced, meaning it feels incredible against the skin. The fabric’s structure makes its perfect for sculpted bodices and for fuller skirt silhouettes,” the designer explains.
The form, fabric and fit of Farah are enough to make it stand out from the crowd, but added to this are the extra details that elevate it to the next level. The bodice features a row of tiny bows, that manage not to be twee, but rather add a cool edge. “We love bows, but for us they need to feel modern rather than too ‘pretty’,” explains Anna. “The bows on the Farah gown are cut on the bias with raw cut edges. This makes them feel textural and contemporary and creates a beautiful contrast against the clean and modern dress silhouette.”
Another thing Bridal Buyer adores is the addition of Unbridled Studio’s Lila Peplum to the style, which completely transforms the look. Ideal for those wanting to have a two-in-one option for their wedding day. “I have always loved a peplum, it’s fun and playful and can be incredibly chic when done in the right way,” says Anna. “The Lila Peplum was originally designed with one specific dress in mind, but has evolved to work across a number of styles within the collection, including the Clara, Mila and Rae gowns. It even works beautifully with the Lyra mini dress. It is a fabulous styling piece to cinch in the waist and completely transform your bridal look.”
