Rose Molteno is the designer behind Molteno Creations. Her passion for the creation of couture stems from her childhood, inspired and determined her designs showcase unique elements with a mix of timeless elegance. Molteno Creations will be showcased within the Ones to Watch section of London Bridal Fashion Week 2019.

Tell us about Molteno Creations

Built on my love of couture and with a lot of determination, I hoped to bring something new to the world of bridal with Molteno Creations. I always felt frustrated with mainstream bridal wear, I thought it needed more diversity within the designs. I truly believe that a bride should be able to follow their true sense of style, even if traditions are left behind when doing so. I endeavour to bring something unique within every design, whilst ensuring it is as comfortable to wear as it is eye-catching.

Does the brand have a signature style?

Molteno’s signature style is modern bohemian. Offering timeless elegance throughout each collection, whilst remaining contemporary and unique. The designs are light, easy to wear, and a little bit sexy.

What is important about London Bridal Fashion Week?

For me, London Bridal Fashion Week is an important platform in which bridal suppliers can be brought face to face with boutique buyers and potential clients. For an international designer such as myself, it offers an invaluable opportunity to present Molteno Creations and me as a designer to the UK and European market, something which can be difficult.

Tell us what you will be bringing to London Bridal Fashion Week this year

I will be bringing my full range of bridal couture to London Bridal Fashion Week. It is all carefully handmade in Cape Town. My styling is soft and feminine, with fine details that showcase a distinctly modern edge. The designs are easy to wear, light and comfortable, whilst being alluring with illusion bodices and fashion-forward traits. My 2019 collection is defined by a romantic pop of colour. By dip-dying tulle, I was able to create soft ombre effects which I have decorated with hand embellishments, creeping vines and 3D flowers. To complement these gowns I have incorporated clean, structured designs to appeal to the modern minimalist.

What trend predictions do you have?

From a designer’s point of view, the biggest trends to follow through from last season are the plunging necklines and capes. Alternatively, from the client’s perspective, I see the minimalist trend becoming more influential, with brides favouring eye-catching cuts over excessive lace and detailing.
