Can you give us a history of the brand?

The Essense journey began more than 20 years in Perth, Australia intending to offer brides a truly exceptional experience through superior gown quality and world-class customer service.

This passion to serve brides has propelled Essense of Australia forward as a world-renowned company, with award-winning bridal labels Stella York, Essense of Australia and Martina Liana, as well as bridesmaid label Sorella Vita. Available at over 1,200 retailers worldwide, these renowned designs can be found in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, New Zealand and throughout Europe.

How would you describe the brand identity? And how would you describe one of your typical brides?

The Stella York bride is fun, flirty and always privy to what’s happening on Instagram. She wants all the latest trends and celebrity-approved looks for her wedding day, without spending a celebrity-level budget.

In comparison, an Essense of Australia bride is timeless, effortless and utterly romantic. The beauty found among the natural grandeur of Western Australia is the same that shines from within every Essense bride.

Finally, Martina Liana is for the bride with an eye for global style. With finely handcrafted design features in every gown, brides will find a true one-of-a-kind look throughout this line.

Tell us a little about the collections you’ll have on display at The Harrogate Bridal Show?

We will be bringing a number of our lines to Harrogate this year. Our latest Stella York collection offers an elevated, timeless style, with new neckline and interesting fabric combinations to bring a fresh, young feel.

The new Essense of Australia collection is romantic and feminine and brings whimsical design elements to the next level. Voluminous skirts add drama and carefree movement to full silhouettes—while nude fabrics bring out graphic lace details for a stunning contrast that flatters the figure and creates bold extravagant new looks.

The Martina Liana collection puts a fresh spin on clean styles that feel sophisticated and refined. Artful gathers, pleating and full skirts of luxe silk turn up the volume on simple styles—while fitted silhouettes feature banded details and unique draping for sophisticated dimension.

What trends should buyers be looking out for at the show?

Speaking to this season’s carefree yet exaggerated approach to feminine details, stores will begin to see more dramatic layers of chiffon and tulle. Banded necklines and soft, figure-defining crepe silhouettes will also be popular and will offer minimalist brides’ a gown that looks amazing and feels it too.

Why is attending Harrogate important for your brand?

We take great pride in being a continual part of The Harrogate Bridal Show, as it is an important way for us to partner with and service our stores within the United Kingdom. Not only is the success of our key retail partners vital to our own but doing what’s best for the industry as a whole is essential to our mission as a brand.

Each year at Harrogate, we look forward to witnessing the bridal industry evolve and flourish before our eyes. The inspirations and trends of the future make their debut at Harrogate—and seeing our stores become an active part of that growth to make the modern bride’s vision a reality is nothing short of inspiring.

Why is it so essential for boutiques to attend the Harrogate show?

Independent bridal storefronts—where a bride’s dreams come to life—are the backbone of our industry, and always will be. Together with our retail partners, we create an industry focused on servicing the bride who, in turn, allows independent businesses to prosper by choosing them to make her wedding dreams a reality.

The introductions and exposure that can happen among retailers at The Harrogate Bridal Show help keep the dream alive for brides and retailers alike.

Do you have some tips for buyers on how to best spend their time?

To maximise your time at Harrogate, we recommend first researching the latest style trends both in bridal and in ready-to-wear. Getting an idea for popular textures, structures and fabrics that brides are loving online and on social media can help immensely during the shopping process—giving you more inspiration, and your brides more to love!

Finally...what future plans can you tell us about?

2020 will be a big year for innovating and modernising trends in bridal, and we see Essense continuing to provide both retailers and brides with an adaptable and responsive approach to this constant evolution.

By listening, engaging and collaborating with today’s bride and her needs through stores and on social media we are committed to letting her voice be heard, and thus personalising her experience all the more to make her innermost visions a reality.

Stella York, Essense of Australia, Martina Liana and Sorella Vita will all be exhibit at Harrogate in Hall D. Make sure you register for the event here so you don’t miss out.
