Anna Wood is the director of Anna Wood Bridal, an exclusive wedding dress shop that stocks a range of different designers and styles. Located in the heart of Northamptonshire, the bridalwear shop was set up in July 2018.

My Typical Morning…

I am a morning person- I hate getting up late and feeling like I’ve wasted half the day and I am far more productive in the morning than at other times of the day. I usually wake at 6.30am, and the first thing I do is say good morning to Mr Wood.

For breakfast I usually have a bowl of cereal and a cup of tea. I arrive to work at 9am after dropping my little boy at school and the first thing I do is put on the kettle and check my emails.

My husband has a business and I assist him with the finances of that business, so my morning is generally spread across the two businesses. We generally have a catch up in the morning to discuss the things that need to be done for both businesses and then it’s a case of cracking on with the tasks for the day.

My Typical Afternoon…

We take our dog Coco to work with us, as we have an office at the top of the building away from the boutique, so I generally grab a quick sandwich then take Coco for a stroll.

My afternoons seem to disappear quite quickly as I collect my little boy from school at 3pm. I generally go over emails in the afternoon before I collect him, and check if there is anything I need to finish off when I get home. If we have brides coming for evening appointments, I will prepare for the appointments making sure the boutique is ready.

As a working mum, I generally leave at 3pm, unless I’m needed for bridal appointments then I leave later.

My Typical Evening…

I spend the evening catching up on any work that I need to do, helping the children with any homework they have, making dinner, taking the dog for a walk after dinner and then settling in front of the TV with my husband and dog. I snuggle up to my husband on the sofa most nights.

I don’t really switch off! As both my husband and I have our own businesses we rarely switch of totally from work at the end of the day. I do try to resist the urge to check emails and social media in the hour or so before I go bed, which is usually around 10.30pm.

I’m a light sleeper, in common with most mums I seem to have a sixth sense for waking in the night if I hear or sense that there is something wrong.

The Best Part of My Day…

My favourite part of the day is first thing before the school run as I like pottering around getting ready for the day. If I could change anything it would be falling asleep on the sofa! As I’m sick of missing the end of programmes!
