My Typical Morning…

A typical morning for me can vary. Depending on my schedule and the time of year, I vacillate between being a morning person and a night owl. Because of this, I’ll usually wake up between 4am and 6am but there are times where I sleep in until 9am.

I don’t usually have breakfast unless I am travelling, so it’s just a cup of coffee for me in the mornings followed by a look over my emails. There may be something that needs my immediate attention so I’ll always deal with this first. The world doesn’t stop when I am sleeping so knowing what has happened overnight helps me plan for the day ahead.

I typically work from home, so my office is where I am! I spend most of my mornings replying to emails from business coaching clients and vendors for The Bridal Masterclass Experience education workshops. Depending on where they are in the world and their time zone, I will occasionally do calls in the mornings as well. For instance, if a client is in the UK, Spain or Italy, I will do calls around 8am, although sometimes this can be as early as 5am or 6am.

The rest of my day is just as busy as my morning and because of that I always try to take a brief break to workout. If I don’t, I’ll usually work right from morning through to the evening.

My Typical Afternoon…

If I’m working from home, lunch consists of a yoghurt and some fruit, however, I do try to get out once a week or so for a lunch meeting. Most of my afternoons are spent on the phone and answering more queries that may come in that day. I always like to end my day by planning for the next.

The beauty of working from home is that you never leave! Okay, so maybe is not much of a “beauty” but as an entrepreneur and having multiple businesses, work never really stops for me. I always have something that is in need of my attention. In many circumstances, people cannot speak with me until after their working hours and because of this, I have to make myself available.

A big part of having any business is having customers and while boundaries are important, I always want my services and products available to everyone, therefore I am always willing to put in work when it is needed.

My Typical Evening…

Depending on what’s going on, sometimes my evenings are filled with calls with those who are not available during “working hours” and at other times it can consist of catching up with other aspects of the business. This can be anything from planning future events to marketing strategies or social media.

I like to schedule time at least once a week to have a dinner meeting. I believe that having meetings in real life and face to face is extremely important in today’s age of social media and the internet. Human connection should always be a part of your business wherever possible.

When I do switch off in the evenings, I will usually use the rest of my day to watch movies with my son, make dinner, or care for the plants I have. I plan to go to bed around 9:30pm but the reality is often 11pm or 12pm. The older I’ve got the more I’ve realised sleep is something I cannot compromise.

The Best Part of My Day…

It’s hard to choose just one part of my day as my favourite. I enjoy the time I spend working out in the morning as it usually helps reset my mind and body. However, speaking with my clients also makes me happy, just as much as seeing my son at the end of the day. I’ve learned a lot over the decades and if my successes and failures can help someone else, that makes me feel fantastic.

I don’t know if I would change any particular part of my day. I’ve always recognised that there will be things you don’t like, but to get to where you want, you have to stick these out. Sometimes the knowledge and experience you gain, or the relationships you’ve made because of the tedious things, are what solidify future successes.
