Congratulations on winning New Bridalwear Retailer of the Year, tell us more about how you felt when you won?

We were in total shock when our name was announced as the winner, it was just incredible. There were some amazing retailers in our category and we really didn’t expect to win at all so we are over the moon! It’s taking a while for it to really sink in and we’ve had so many lovely messages from all over the country to congratulate us.

Why is this award important to you?

The Bridal Buyer Awards are seen as the highest in the industry, so to win one in our first year of business is such an achievement. So much hard work goes on behind the scene to give our brides the experience that they receive, so it feels amazing to have that recognised by some of the best in the bridal industry.

What do you think this will do for your business over the next 12 months?

Hopefully, this will bring even more brides through our doors and it will certainly keep us motivated to work hard and grow.

Can you tell us more about Adella Bridal?

We are an appointment-only bridal boutique located in Norfolk. Our brides are fashion-forward, style-conscious and are looking for something a little less traditional without compromising on quality and our stocked designers reflect this.

What have you found most enjoyable about opening a new bridal boutique?

One of the most enjoyable elements is meeting nervous brides who are coming to try on dresses for the first time and watching them fill with confidence when they fall in love with their dream gown. They always leave our showroom feeling incredible and on such a high, it’s amazing to watch this transformation.

What has been the most challenging part?

We are based out in the countryside in a beautiful location but the downside of that is we have very little footfall so we need to make sure we are really on top of our advertising and marketing to make sure brides know we are here. We still have some local brides who don’t know about us but we are gradually getting our name out there.

How do you generate appointments?

Most of our appointments come through our social media and our website so we are constantly trying to update our accounts to keep them looking fresh. We are also in the midst of creating a new website which we can’t wait to be finished!

What advice would you give to anyone looking to open their own bridal shop?

Thoroughly research the area and see if there is a gap in the market for brides who are looking for what you want to offer. If not, find another location – there are a lot of bridal boutiques out there, so location is key especially if brides have to travel.

Where do you see your business in five years?

We want Adella Bridal to be seen as a destination that is on the top of the list for brides-to-be. We are expanding our range and are always looking out for new designers that are ahead of the trends and that offer something a little different. We want to be ahead of the game so who knows what designers we could be stocking in the next few years.
