California bridal brand Kitty Chen will be returning to The Harrogate Bridal Show this year and bringing with them a selection of new, innovative designs. We caught up with the brand to find out more about their latest collections and their take on the UK bridal market.

Can you give us a history of the brand?

Kitty quickly launched her first line Kitty Chen Couture back in 2004 and powered by its success followed it up with four more lines including Kitty Chen, Ivoire By Kitty Chen, Glitz by Kitty Chen, and most recently Jessica Morgan.

Always keeping the end goal of ‘the perfect dress’ in the front of her mind, Kitty’s attention to detail and her skill at combining fabrics, laces, silhouettes and colours have set her apart from the competition. Fast forward 15 years later, the bridal brand is now serving over 400 stores in the US, Canada, Australia and worldwide.

Can you tell us about the new collections?

The inspiration for some of our newest collections was inclusivity - we have something for brides of all sizes, personal styles and prices.

The Kitty Chen Couture collection features luxury beading designs, laces and fabrics, whereas the Kitty Chen collection includes stunning bridal gowns that offer sexy low-cut backs. Ivoire By Kitty Chen introduces romantic lace gowns and the Jessica Morgan collection showcases simple and elegant fabrics, such as crepe, chiffon and tulle.

We are an all-inclusive wedding dress designer and all of our gowns can be made for both petite brides and beautiful plus size brides. With all that there is to offer, we are certain every bride will find their perfect gown.

What will see any trends in the new collections?

One trend that we are seeing right now is chunky, large lace appliques. You will be able to see this trend making a comeback in some of our styles so keep an eye out.

The brand is looking to expand to the UK bridal market. Can you tell us more about that?

We like to consider ourselves a “rising star” in the United States and now we are looking to expand into the UK market with the same success. We are currently expanding into the UK bridal market for the first time and we are very excited to build fantastic relationships with our soon to be retailers across the country.

We view the UK bridal market as a new challenge that we are willing to take on full force. We plan to understand the different trends and styles that UK brides like and build from there. We believe that our inclusive brand will be a great fit.

Where can UK retailers catch up with you next?

We will be exhibiting at The Harrogate Bridal Show at Stand Q42. We would also like to invite UK retailers to catch up with us on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter all at @kittychencouture where they can see our latest styles, news and retailer promotions.

The Harrogate Bridal Show 2019 is fast approaching so make sure you register for the event here if you haven’t already.
