With over 35 years of experience, Romantica is a fashion house that has amassed a huge amount of skill and knowledge over the years – not to mention a plethora of loyal fans. In the UK alone the company has over 500 stockists, with a further 150 across Europe. The business is family run, and best of all it’s a home-grown talent.

All the gowns are designed and developed in the heart of the Devon countryside. “The design team is led by Creative Director Sally Waddington, with Head Designer Hannah Gardner by her side and a team of talented seamstresses,” says Romantica’s Social Media and Marketing Manager Hayley Badham.

The Romantica collection is the company’s flagship brand – the first of eight strong lines. Lily Rose Bridal is the newest brand, which is also handmade in the UK. This line is designed by Hannah Gardner and handmade to order.

The dresses for Lily Rose have been created with flexibility and versatility in mind, so there is the opportunity to make alterations to suit each bride’s requirements.

“With expertise in different areas from textile design to pattern drawing, construction and draping, our team ensure each design is produced to an exceptional standard,” says Hayley. “Our designers are constantly drawing inspiration from the ever-changing concept of the ‘Wedding.’ This allows us to keep up with bridal trends and themes while we endeavour to provide a range of dresses with a style for every bride.”

It’s easy to see why the brand is so loved by retailers and brides alike, and Bridal Buyer is very much looking forward to seeing what the brand has in store for Harrogate this year. Romantica has been attending the show for over 30 years, using it as a platform to show off its latest designs to boutiques from the UK and further afield.

“It is a high quality bridal show that brings the best of the best together to celebrate style, talent and everything bridal,” explains Hayley. “It is a great opportunity for us to showcase our latest collections and to meet up with all of our stockists in one place. Customer service is integral to us and we love to have the opportunity to sit down with our customers in such a vibrant and creative location. We have even named a gown after the show that is how special it is to us.”

So, what will be popular this season? The company cites that A-line and ball gown styles are in demand, as well as classic lace styles. “With the Royal wedding this year, plain styles have become more popular; our Paris and Chloe dresses are elegant choices. Sleeves have had a revival thanks to Meghan, with our Jessica gown taking centre stage,” says Hayley.
