The Queen’s granddaughter, Princess Eugenie, married Jack Brooksbank today at 11am at Windsor Castle’s 15th Century St George’s Chapel.

Eugenie chose a dress quite different to Meghan Markle’s. Find the official sketches of Meghan Markle’s wedding dress here.

All eyes were on the Princess as the country waited in utter anticipation of her dress choice, and we were not disappointed. Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, founders of the British based label Peter Pilotto, designed and created Eugenie’s low back wedding dress. Working closely with Eugenie, the designers looked into the Royal Family’s archive to find the silhouette.

The result was a fitted dress with a portrait neckline that folded around the shoulders and then into a back and finally a strikingly long train. Eugenie specifically requested a low back to reveal scars from surgery she had aged 12 to correct scoliosis.

The chosen fabric was decorated with symbols that are personal to the couple: the Thistle for Scotland was a nod toward the couple’s affection for Balmoral, the Shamrock for Ireland, which acknowledged the bride’s Ferguson family, and finally the York Rose and ivy which represented the couple’s home.

For jewellery, Eugenie borrowed in her grandmother’s Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, which was made in 1919 in the then fashionable ‘kokoshnik’ Russian style. The tiara is made of rose cut diamond pavé set in platinum and is finished with six emeralds on each side. Eugenie’s statement earrings, diamond and emerald drop style, were a wedding gift from her now husband.

The bride finished her outfit with a pair of satin peep-toe heels by popular shoe brand, Charlotte Olympia.

Sarah Ferguson, Mother of the Bride and Duchess of York, wore a striking green outfit, matching the emeralds on her daughter’s tiara. Sarah’s dress was designed by Emma Louise Design, a local Windsor company; she coupled the outfit with a vintage Manolo Blahnik bag.

There’s no bought that Eugenie’s wedding dress choice will influence brides. Here’s how you can help your brides avoid royal wedding dress scams.
