Like most dress codes these days, the rules at weddings are constantly changing – but for the past five years, the blue suit has been a big day favourite. This subtle yet stylish suit has won the hearts of grooms over the nation, however, bosses at men’s fashion brand, Douglas, have noticed an unprecedented spike in their range of patterned suits as British grooms become more daring.

“We have always seen a spike in sales in suits around wedding season and for the past few years this has been led by the range of blue suits,” says Sales Director, Anton Jenkins. “Although blue is still topping the choice colour-wise, grooms are increasingly moving towards patterned alternatives in a bid to ensure they’re not dressing as they would for a business meeting.

“As men’s style becomes progressively adventurous, we knew it wouldn’t be long until wedding style caught up. Our patterned suits are flying off the rails and this year we are sure to see wedding albums full of outlandishly dressed grooms.”
