The finalists were elected by Amanda Bradwell, chair of sponsor BBSA, and Bridal Buyer’s Susi Rogol, during the London Bridal Show at Olympia earlier this week. They are now requested to make up their design to exactly matched their entry drawings and those 12 gowns will go on show for the duration of the Harrogate Bridal Show, 10-12 September. The winner will be announced at The Bridal Buyer Awards ceremony on Monday 11 September. Entry in this Awards category is open to Foundation degree 2nd-year students and 2nd- and 3rd-year BA design students. Submissions have to be tutor-approved and signed off as qualifying.

The brief sent to colleges
For 2017, we want your students to let their imagination run riot!
Favourite Movies is the theme and, as that means anything from
weepy romances to spooky horror films to animation. Bridal, of
course, has to come through as the central theme, and attention to
detail will score points, as will the choice of fabrics and trims. What
is important is that a student can successfully make up the design
they have submitted in drawing form - this is not just about pretty
pictures! We will want a good explanation of the link between film
and frock design.
