Bridal shoe designer, Charlotte Mills, puts a silver sixpence in Markle’s shoe to wish her good luck
With the royal wedding nearing, designers are making their predictions at what Meghan Markle will be walking down the aisle in. Charlotte Mills, creative director at Charlotte Mills, has designed a pair of shoes that she would love to see Markle wearing on her big day.
Charlotte Mills explains that, “Meghan has a great style, and it would be a dream to design her shoes. The design I have created would be a style that I could picture her wearing; simple and elegant with feminine details… The block heel is so popular with our brides, as you are on your feet all day. They want to feel comfortable and block heels are perfect for dancing the night away.”
All Charlotte Mills bridal shoes include an original silver sixpence embossed onto their sole. This represents the British tradition whereby the father of the bride would give his daughter a sixpence on her wedding day to bring her good luck and prosperity throughout her married life. This charming Charlotte Mills practice also originated from the well-known rhyme, “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue and a Silver Sixpence in Her Shoe.” Since carrying a sixpence in a bridal shoe is symbolic of Britishness, Charlotte Mills thinks it would be a romantic gesture for Markle to practice, as it is the day she will become a member of the British Royal Family.
The Meghan Shoe is to be hand crafted in the finest kid leather and paired with a crushed pearl glitter vamp. The style is currently in production.
Charlotte Mills will be attending White Gallery in less than two weeks’ time. Make sure you see her gorgeous designs by registering for the show here.
