As May quickly draws to a close, the bridal industry has been abuzz with exciting developments. From celebrity weddings to emerging trends (and a sprinkling of new collections), here is a round-up of some exciting moments from this month:

Evie Young’s MODE sneak peek

Evie Young Bridal offered a sneak peek into their upcoming collection, ’MODE’, and we are obsessed. Think bold bows, strong silhouettes and maximum femininity. The new collection blends playful detailing with sleek, modern lines - perfect for the style-led bride who still wants a nod to the classics. Watch this space, this collection is set to make serious waves.

"Narrating my life" video hook style

One trend we’re loving across social right now? The "narrating my life" video style - think soft, movie voiceovers, candid clips, cinematic edits and swirly cursive fonts. It’s all about filming small moments of your day-to-day, then layering a funny, dramatic or relatable voiceover as if your narrating your own life. The best part? You don’t need to use trending audio or fancy filming equipment - just a little creativity!

Demi Lovato’s wedding dress

On May 25, Demi Lovato married singer-songwriter Jordan Lutes in California, wearing not one but TWO custom Vivienne Westwood dresses. "I have been a fan of Vivienne Westwood’s designs for a long time," Demi shared with Vogue. "When I was thinking about [what dress style I wanted] I often found myself coming back to Vivienne’s designs - specifically how the silhouettes really compliment the curves in your body, and her use of corsets".

Her ceremony gown featured a pearl white, heavy silk satin with a corseted off-the-shoulder bodice and a pleated, draped A-line skirt, paired with a cathedral-length veil. For the reception, she changed into the “Audrey” gown, an ivory silk satin column dress adorned with cascading pearls, blending classic elegance with modern asymmetry. We at Bridal Buyer are completely in love with both - a masterclass in bridal styling.

Annabel Sarah Bridal turns four

This month, we’re also celebrating a bridal boutique that’s hit an important milestone this year. Warwickshire-based Annabel Sarah Bridal just marked their fourth anniversary - and they’ve already accomplished a lot in that time. They’ve won Bridal Retailer of the Year for the West Midlands twice, expanded the boutique by an extra 1,000 square feet, and helped hundreds of gorgeous brides find their perfect dress. A huge happy birthday to Annabel Sarah - we can’t wait to see what year five brings!

Heart shaped cakes are back (and cuter than ever)

This one’s for the retro-romantics: heart-shaped cakes are making a comeback, and they’re bring a dreamy dose of vintage to the traditional bridal dessert.

Typically crafted as a single-tier heart and finished with ornate Lambeth piping, producing a vintage-inspired look reminiscent of the 18th century, this cake features soft pastels, over-the-top florals and an overly sweet sense of nostalgia. It’s no coincidence that this trend pairs perfectly with the resurgence of retro-nuptials and crackly film photography that we’re seeing lately. We’re here for it!
