You Are Precious Bridal Renovation

Formerly known as Y.A.P, You Are Precious Bridal recently underwent a speedy nine-day renovation. Danni Hesketh told us a little more about the process.

Can you give us a little introduction about You Are Precious?

Established in 2010, You Are Precious Bridal has finally moved into her forever home after 12 years on one iconic street in the heart of Newcastle. Steeped in heritage, the Grade 2 listed townhouse is now ours for keeps. With five incredible floors, our multi award winning showroom houses modern romantic edits by Savin London, Maggie Sottero, Madi Lane, Rebecca Ingram, Eliza Jane Howell and Allure Romance. Our female led team of passionate stylists empower our modern day bride whilst pairing this with one super luxurious and relaxed experience.

What was your process in designing your shops interior?

We love to set ourselves a challenge and with our new space this is no mean feat. Due to delays on the purchase of the property (which were out of our hands) we ended up having only nine days to renovate the first two floors of our 5-storey townhouse from 80’s bold office tones to idyllic, modern bridal chic before we transitioned across for our appointments.

I knew I wanted to create a unique take on the modern bridal experience – whilst representing our brand ethos and team, our space needed to reflect this. Finding reliable tradesmen and then losing said tradesmen during the project was definitely a testing time, however we made it work. I really enjoyed being hands on with the whole project as I was thrown into the physical side of the renovating as well as the overall design – I’ve learnt so much from this project and gained life skills, from industrial sanding of original floorboards to knocking through walls I’ve been a part of it all – literally blood sweat and tears went into every step and I’ve just about recovered. We still have two floors to complete which will be the next phase of our concept.

Where did you find the inspiration for the new interior? What is it that makes your interior stand out amongst the crowd?

Travel plays a big part in my life, I love to take in different places from around the world and bring these touches into our everyday. Our #preciousnewera is inspired by chic Balinese styling mixed with classic Parisian tones, along with a handful of personal vintage touches scattered throughout such as my great grandmother’s vintage singer sewing machines, my late grandparents Persian rugs and Victorian flat irons. Our townhouse is going to be a contemporary take on luxury bridal with a down to earth, distinctive edge – which makes our aesthetic totally unique for our market.

Tell us a little bit about the introduction of Love Above Curve Bridal Lounge!

We’re so excited to flourish within our new extensive space and have some big plans for launching the North East’s very own dedicated Curve studio this coming Spring. We would love to introduce you to – ‘Love Above Curve Bridal Lounge’ which will house samples in sizes UK18-UK32 from across our designer labels, whilst also featuring designers that will be new to our area who are focused on modern styles filled with the most amazing structure and support to empower our fashion forward, contemporary, plus size brides. This teamed with our passionate and dedicated service we know will be a match made for our brides to be and elevates our offerings and we have a unique design in mind for the interior.

Sisters of Grace Award Win

We also spoke to Danni about sister boutique Sisters of Grace and their exciting Bridal Buyer Award win earlier this year.

Congratulations on winning In-Store Design of the Year, can you tell us more about what the award means to you?

To be recognised for all that we’ve achieved rejuvenating such a beautiful space that had been sat empty for so long, in the heart of Newcastle means the world. Seeing the studio come to life with our ideas is so rewarding in general especially each bridal parties reactions when walking through the door – we are known for our relaxed, chic and modern feel.

How did you feel when your name was announced as winner?

Sisters of Grace being announced as the winner of Best In Store Design was a complete surprise and a such an honour – we all felt totally elated.

What three top tips would you give to boutiques thinking of entering the Bridal Buyer Awards next year?

1/ Your studio space should represent you, your team, your market and your company values – match this.
2/ Brides love a more modern approach – think outside the box, creating a calm and relaxed environment is so important in allowing your bride the right backdrop to reflect in each gown.
3/ As the offerings of the bridal industry boom with design choice, so should your aesthetic energy for your brides. Evaluate layout, appointment approach and your showroom space.
