The latest veils are bold, personalised and more fashion-forward than ever. We can’t help but swoon over the latest takes on this classic bridal accessory

There is one accessory that feels undeniably and unmistakably bridal: the veil. There’s probably no other moment in life when it will be worn – unless you’re truly dramatic (and we fully support that). We are, of course, talking about the wedding veil.
When we spoke to editor Zoe Burke about the Hitched Trend Report earlier this month, one of the biggest insights was the renewed popularity of veils. She told us: “Veils are making a comeback in a big way. Statement veils have doubled in popularity and they’re no longer just a formality – they’re becoming fashion statements in their own right. We’re seeing embroidered veils, coloured veils, even veils with personalised messages.”
Backing this up, Pinterest’s 2025 Wedding Trends Report revealed a +640% increase in searches for “mantilla veil” and a +32% rise for “statement veil.” So it’s not just us obsessing over veils, nearly-weds everywhere are falling in love with them again. But why now? What’s driving this renewed swoon over such a classic bridal accessory? The answer sits in the lines of personalisation, drama and a revived appreciation for tradition.
Across weddings in general, and wedding fashion in particular, the trend toward personalisation and customisation is huge. Couples are embracing bespoke wedding newspapers, personalised fabric signs, monogrammed napkins, engraved cufflinks and more.
Bridal veils have become one of the most meaningful and beautiful ways to add personalisation. Brides can incorporate initials, names, wedding dates, favourite motifs, meaningful quotes or lines of poetry. Floral detailing that mirrors a bouquet is another popular choice.
More than just an accessory, a personalised veil becomes an heirloom piece; a keepsake filled with sentiment that can be treasured or even passed down. We adore the styles on offer from Rebecca Anne Designs, who has a magical touch with unique detailing.
Of course, personal doesn’t only mean customised. A veil also feels personal when it expresses the bride’s style, makes her feel incredible or reflects the fashion moment she’s dreamed of.
Veils are no longer just add-on pieces – they’re frequently the focal point of the bridal look. Designers are leaning into colour, texture and bold detail to create truly statement-worthy pieces.
We’re seeing styles with vividly colourful embellishments, bright ruffled trims, bold taped edges, multicoloured petals and jewel-toned accents that bring a runway-worthy energy to the aisle. The Perfect Bridal Company has some amazing Cathedral length styles.
For brides wanting a bolder aesthetic, red, burgundy and wine-toned trims offer a romantic and daring twist – our favourite being the red taped edging to an Ouma style. These shades are perfect for autumn weddings, moody themes or brides craving symbolism in their look.
Designers are embracing richer textures and luxurious details to make veils feel more fashion-forward. Pearl veils are one of the biggest trends for 2026 – adding vintage glamour and beautiful texture. Lightly scattered pearls give a soft shimmer, ideal for minimalist gowns, while heavier pearl clusters create a striking editorial finish. Leah Da Gloria has an exquisite version, the edges dripping with tear-drop pearls.
3D florals are also thriving. Sculptural petals, hand-appliquéd blossoms or oversized blooms add depth and a romantic, garden-inspired dimension. They can turn even the simplest silhouette into something ethereal. We adore a new style from Lihi Hod, adorned all over with bold blooms and dotted with pearls – an amazing texture combination.
Keep an eye out for emerging trends in sequins, feathers (for soft movement) and embroidered motifs.
The mantilla veil is a traditional Spanish-style design known for its exquisite lace edging that beautifully frames the face. Typically, circular or oval, it lies flat over the head rather than gathering at the comb, creating a soft, elegant drape over the hair and shoulders.
For a dramatic, regal aesthetic, pair a cathedral-length mantilla with a fitted lace gown – perfect for formal or traditional weddings. For minimalist brides, let the mantilla become their statement piece by layering it over a sleek contemporary dress. The contrast of clean lines and intricate lace is visually breathtaking. There is plenty of choice here, again Rebecca Anne has some amazing bespoke options, Justin Alexander’s Thanks & Goodluck has a pretty Alençon lace version and EDit Veils has options with delicate floral detailing.
The birdcage veil offers a shorter, more playful alternative to traditional styles. Rooted in the glamour of the 1940s and ’50s, they bring vintage sophistication with a modern twist. Whether crafted from French netting, dotted tulle or structured mesh, birdcage veils add instant charm and attitude. Check out the wonderful styles from Debbie Carlisle, she has such an eye for this style and all of her designs are second to none.
Paired with a sleek headband, they look effortlessly chic. They’re perfect for brides who love the idea of a veil but don’t want the drama of a long one. They also complement a surprising range of bridal looks from bridal tailoring and trouser suits to slinky bias-cut gowns and mini dresses. They shine particularly bright for city and town hall weddings where an urban, polished aesthetic is key. This is the cool-girl veil – stylish, confident and undeniably chic.
