Tell us the company’s history, how you started and how the brand has developed.

Adrian and his partner Agata were both passionate creatives, but she was working as an art historian and he was a senior lawyer, and neither felt fulfilled in their work. A couple of years ago, they started their clothing brand alongside their day jobs, but it wasn’t long before they decided to take the leap and pursue their dream and so they set up a bricks and mortar atelier in Warsaw. They received such a positive response to their designs that really fuelled their determination and passion to focus on taking their designs to the global market.

Fast forward to today and the business is thriving and they now have over 150 stockists across Europe! Despite their success they are still true to their roots and continue to serve brides through their atelier in Warsaw, which enables to keep a finger on the pulse of what brides are asking for and ensures they understand what it is to be a bridal retailer.

Can you tell us an interesting fact about the brand?

DAMA translates to ‘lady’ in Polish - we chose this as the name for our brand because it perfectly encapsulates our vision and values!

Can you describe the creative process, from the initial conceptualisation?

The creative process begins with gathering inspiration and creating mood boards. Next, sketches and fabric swatches are used to develop the design concept. From there, the sketch is brought to life through the creation of prototypes. After finalizing the pattern, fabrics and embellishments are carefully selected. The construction phase follows, with attention to detail and craftsmanship. During this phase, we ensure the pattern is absolutely perfect before we begin production.

What inspired the latest collection, and how do you stay current with bridal fashion trends?

People, emotions, nature. The life around us. We live to be inspired and we draw inspirations from the life we live. We are not chasing the bridal fashion trends, but we are intuitive and curious about what the brides currently want.

Is there a single piece which embodies the vision of the whole collection - and can you tell us more about it?

We cannot choose a single gown as our collection is so diverse! But we believe that those three styles reflect the vision quite well, i.e. Anwar, Sievi and Paula. Each completely different, but each authentic, empowering and romantic.

Anwar is the bohemian gown, which highlight sensuality, femininity, and confidence. A blush and beige dramatic gown with woven lace and beaded detail throughout the bodice and down the centre of the long, flowing skirt. Styled with delicately crafted floral lace and fringe and paired with a hand-stitched pullover with tulle flyers to spotlight originality and artistry.

Sievi is the fairytale princess gown for which we have draped intricately woven French lace and floral detailing on a structured strapless nude corset with a deep V-shaped back. Tailored for the playful and romantic bride, with airy, sheer long sleeves hand stitched with lace detailing, this bold blush and beige style reflects a lively, confident, and expressive woman.

Paula is the elegant wedding dress with 3D embroidered puffy top and long sleeves with cinch detailing and a plunging neckline layered on a nude mesh underlining, and an open back with a button-accented top closure. The Paula gown reflects a refined, romantic, and ambitious bride. From a plain skirt to an off-cantered deep slit, this style spotlights sensuality and simplicity.

Why is Bridal Week Harrogate so important to you?

We are so excited about the opportunity of expanding our network of retailers across the UK, and of course, Bridal Week Harrogate is fundamental to the success of this plan. We know that when the retailers see and feel the gowns that they will be impressed by the quality of the fabrics and construction alongside the wholesale pricing, which is incredibly competitive at around £500, and all possible because of the complete control that we have over the entire design and production process!

What does the future hold for DAMA Couture - do you have any exciting upcoming plans you can share?

We are on the verge of launching our new customer portal allowing stores to place orders, track deliveries and see stock availability. This has been in the pipeline for many months now, and we are super excited to roll it out to our stores to enhance the service that we already offer.
