Diana McMann, founder of Badass Mama and The Little Pearl Bridal Boutique, answers your top questions on creating a stellar social media schedule and boosting online engagement.

Q: We are active on social media but our engagement is low and our booking enquiries are quiet.

A: The first question to ask yourself is do you really know what makes you and your boutique unique?  Do you communicate that in all of your content? 

The second question would be, do you know who your ideal bride is? Do you know her inside and out? Is your content speaking to her in the right way? Whether that be your imagery or your copy. If you want your ideal bride to engage with you she needs to be able to resonate with you and your boutique. She needs to know how you are going to be able to help her and why you should be on her ‘bridal boutique shopping list.’ Lastly, is your messaging engaging? Do you know what you want your bride to do with each piece of content you post? Make sure you always have a headline that captures attention, copy that provides value and a call to action at the end.

Q: How can we save time when planning our social media content?

A: Do you have a strategy to your social media content or do you just wing it? Having a clear strategy will make you so much more effective and feel less overwhelmed! Can you create time in your diary to dedicate to your social media planning so that you have a plan for the week/month ahead? Dedicating time to batch filming video specifically is a good idea too. Remember you can re-purpose your content. So if you have a blog, use parts of those to create different content. Save your reels and share on Pinterest or TikTok. Just make sure you remove any watermarks if you are cross posting on Instagram or TikTok. Using a scheduling platform is a good time saving technique too, just try to be present to respond to comments and messages.

Q: How can we be visible without trying on dresses?

A: It’s super important to be visible in your online marketing. Brides want to see who they are buying from. They are buying from you as much as choosing their dress so showing up visually really helps to build a relationship with them. Go behind the scenes, host a live Q&A, create Get To Know You posts, create reels where you give top tips, do a voiceover as you showcase different dresses. However you show up, creating original content is what is going to make you stand out.
