Five signs you need a business cleanse

Some simple tips to help you detach yourself from a stressful work day and cleanse your business, in order to show up to work feeling your best.

One of the hardest parts of being an entrepreneur is not developing the skills or finding the right customers. The hardest part of being an entrepreneur is the mental toughness required every day to do your job. Sometimes you are your only cheerleader, your only admin or assistant, your only friend. Even if you have teams of people and a beautifully laid out, functional company structure, this holds true.

As an entrepreneur, regardless of your industry, you have to be a sales person and also a creative person, so discipline & focus are often your friend and your foe. If you don’t show up to work as the best version of yourself every day, it’s not like someone else is going to step in and do it for you. But how do you know the difference between needing an office refresh & a little self-care vs a full-blown mindset strategy business cleanse?

Here are 5 signs you’re in need of a business cleanse to detox & revive your business.

1. You are overwhelmed by social media & the thought of another new platform makes you nauseous.

Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok, Clubhouse, the list goes on. It’s so much to keep up with & if you let it take over your life, it will. If you have thrown your hands up & prepared to walk away from it all, it’s time to cleanse.

2. You feel like you’re constantly maxing out credit cards & emptying your wallet.

If your cash flow feels drained, you are struggling to pay your bills on time & to drive your business growth… It’s time to make a change.

3. You seem to be apologizing a lot in your business. To your customer, your team, your family, yourself.

If you find yourself saying things like, “I’m sorry our team is a little smaller now.” “I’m sorry, I don’t have as much help anymore.” “I’m sorry, I’m just having a tough day.” “I’m sorry, we are just a bit behind right now with everything going on.” First of all, it’s totally understandable. Things are different. However, I give you permission to not have to apologize anymore. But also recognize that this cannot go on forever.

4. The thought of planning for the future makes you want to just grab all the papers up in the air and scream, “WHY BOTHER?! WHO KNOWS WHAT’S GONNA HAPPEN NEXT!”

Forecasting sales, prepping for new launches or collections, market planning, & even goal setting can be more difficult than it was already. If we have learned anything, never say never. I get it.

5. You can’t imagine taking one more course, watching one more webinar, or reading one more book.

I mean everyone is saying the same thing, right? Same strategies, same methods, same cheerleading approach. I’m sick of it all too if we are being honest.

If you answered YES to any of the following questions: it’s time for a cleanse.

Listen, we all might need a business cleanse with everything going on in the world. The trauma, heartbreak, frustration, continued mental toughness, resiliency, etc. is a lot for anyone. But know you’re not alone!

So you need a cleanse, now what?

Here are 3 things you can do RIGHT NOW to cleanse your business.

1. Edit your phone.

Constant notifications, a consistent stream of “inspo”, & the inability to keep control of your own focus can be overwhelming. Turn off your notifications for a minute, step away from perfectly edited & filtered photos, & clear out everything that clutters your mind. Take back control of your own focus & get ready to EDIT the rest of your business.

2. Maximize a minimal schedule & leave time for nothing.

When we start to lose track of where we are at & need a refresh, it’s often because we have packed so much into our schedules that we forget to work ON the business, instead of IN it. Get done what needs to get done, but leave time to just think. If you can’t find 2 hours in your day because you’re “so busy”, it’s not that you’re too busy. It’s that you aren’t prioritizing right.

3. Analyze what you have, rather than what you want.

Once you have decluttered a few areas, it’s time for some reflection. What in your business is working? What isn’t? What brings you joy? I know these are simple questions, but when met with the time & space to really think about them, they can be profound. Before you get back on the wheel of building & growing, take stock in what you have already before you decide where to go next.

Let’s cleanse the old business toxins holding you down so you & your business can feel happier & healthier.
