Industry giant, Maggie Sottero Designs, adds Huntsman Cancer Institute to their list of charitable endeavours; advocating their support and collecting donations over the coming festive period.
Maggie Sottero Designs, one of the most recognised bridal gown manufacturers in the world, is proud to announce its annual Cheer for Charity initiative supporting the Huntsman Cancer Institute, a world-renowned cancer research centre and treatment hospital located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
A percentage of all sales from Black Friday through December 31st will be donated to Huntsman. For each of the five top-selling retailers (three US, two International), Maggie Sottero Designs will donate $5,000 from the proceeds to a charity of their choice. "We want to spread a message of love and hope this holiday season," shared Kelly Midgley, CEO and Creative Director. "Cancer unfortunately touches us all, and this year, it cut deep, as we lost a dear friend and beloved member of our Maggie Family. She always felt at home and well cared for at Huntsman. We look forward to honouring her bright light and the light of others who have lost their fight through this year’s Cheer for Charity initiative."
Maggie Sottero Designs’ Cheer for Charity efforts help to cultivate a culture of generosity as part of its Maggie Cares initiative. The bridal gown designer has proudly supported several charities over the years by holding blood drives, donating to local food banks, and raising funds for numerous charities, including Souper Bowl of Caring, Team Peri, and Huntsman Cancer Institute, which the company is proud to support again this year. Along with donating funds raised, Maggie Sottero Designs is donating product to Brides Across America to support brides of military families. Maggie Sottero Designs’ Maggie Cares initiative also includes hosting Diversity in Bridal webinars for its retailers to promote diversity and inclusion in the bridal industry, creating campaigns around inclusivity, no matter ability, ethnicity, age, size, identification, or other factors, and celebrating love and love for all.
The Huntsman Cancer Institute’s mission is “to understand cancer from its beginnings, to use that knowledge in the creation and improvement of cancer treatments, to relieve the suffering of cancer patients, and to provide education about cancer risk, prevention, and care.” According to the World Health Organization, cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020, or nearly one in six deaths. Since the Huntsman family pledged $100 million toward the creation of the cancer centre in 1995, the Huntsman Cancer Institute has expanded its reach by opening clinics in the surrounding area and affiliate hospitals in neighbouring states; discovering more genes for inherited cancers than any other cancer centre in the world; and providing education to over a million residents from all 50 states and six continents, among other accomplishments.
