We started our bridal journey in a small office style shop hidden away in the high street, Dumbarton a way back in 2011. Lynsey sold her car, bought 10 dresses, signed her first lease and Aimee Bridal Couture was born. We sold to local brides and most of our returning custom was from word of mouth. Quickly we grew and relocated to a larger store but we realised brides were missing the “girls day out” experience which Dumbarton didn’t provide so we decided to pack up and move to Glasgow. We started in a small store on Bath Street but recently in 2020 opened our flagship store again on Bath street. We wanted it to feel relaxed even in the busy city and opted for a soft, neutral pallet with a luxury edge.
We absolutely loved the process! It was already such a beautiful canvas and adding the finishing touches and decor really brought the original Victorian features to life. We sourced most of our soft furnishings and furniture online and tried to choose unique, well thought out pieces to create a touch of luxury but still providing a relaxing, calming environment for the bride and their entourage. We are absolutely delighted with the final look and are constantly looking for ways to improve our bridal experience.
When we first stepped into the new location we fell in love with the copper coloured, crystal chandelier in our Crown bridal suite and decided to use that as the main inspiration for the colour pallet we used through the store. We knew that we wanted an extra-large mirror for brides as the main focus of the room and once we had that in place we added in the soft furnishings. We opted for a soft boho vibe and adding bursts of pampas grass and dried flowers. We change the colours of the pampas every season and we all have endless Pinterest lists and are constantly making new décor inspo boards that we share amongst our team.
From looking at our social media it’s clear we are obsessed with all things pampas and we use this through out the whole brand even down to our signature scent candles that scent all of our appointments. We have our very bar built within our shop, named after our owners dad, Papa G and brides can enjoy a complimentary cocktail using our own branded Rhubarb Gin after they have found their dream dress.
We wanted to create a calming environment for our brides and their families. Quite often brides in Glasgow visit a lot of shops in one day and when they arrive to us they are exhausted. We have researched into what makes people comfortable while shopping and transferred that knowledge over to the rooms they visit. We think about scent, room temperature, lighting, music etc and overall how we can provide the best experience for our brides.
We pick a monthly theme based on the season, current events and trends. Our window is the main focal point of our shop front and we always ensure the window is eye catching and exciting while remaining on brand.
