For over two decades, Bromley Brides has been a staple in the Kent community. We spoke with Becky Griggs about their expertly designed space and partnership with a bridal icon.

Tell us a little bit about your boutique, your company history and where you are based.

Bromley Brides has been successfully selling wedding gowns in the local area for over twenty years. The current owners purchased the shop in 2012 and have increased the turnover of the store and its status within the local area since taking ownership. We are now a “Platinum” supplier of leading bridal designer Justin Alexander’s dresses and are lucky enough to be able to offer our clients Justin Alexander’s signature collection dresses a unique collection only available at a handful of boutiques in the country.

We are located at the intersection of a busy junction in West Wickham, Kent which is a suburb of Greater London. The boutique is a twenty minute train journey from central London and is a fifteen minute drive from junction 4 of the M25.

Tell us about the design process for your shop’s interior?

The boutique underwent a total renovation in 2020, the interior was updated and the store doubled in size when the upstairs space was incorporated into the shop giving us the opportunity of showcasing our extensive range of gowns away from the busy store entrance. The renovation project also allowed us to increase the number of fitting rooms, have a room dedicated to alterations only and add a VIP experience option to all Brides.

We have decorated our store in subtle pinks and nudes with glass chandeliers and large mirrors. The upstairs of the store is carpeted so provides a warm luxurious feel and definitely gives the bride a “wow” factor when entering the main showroom.

Is there anything in your interior that makes your boutique stand out?

Our VIP experience is available in the unique “Wonder Room” which is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The interior of the “Wonder Room” was nominated for an award at the Bridal Buyer Awards ceremony this year in Harrogate. The Wonder Room gives our brides the opportunity to have the ultimate VIP experience with family and friends whilst enjoying prosecco and a selection of sweet teats.

Bromley Brides are also able to offer our clients an appointment with “Bridal Royalty” in the form of David Emmanuel. David is an ambassador of the shop and consults at the store one Saturday a month.

We feel that our store offers brides the ultimate “Say Yes to the Dress” experience and we provide an area in the showroom where they can have a photograph taken with David Emmanuel and or their family and friends in front of a LED which displays the words ”I Said Yes to The Dress”. This provides a lovely memory of the day you picked your wedding gown.

How do you approach your window displays?

Our window displays are changed on a weekly basis, we decorate our windows in seasonal themes incorporating the accessories we sell in store, tiaras, shoes and we often incorporate a Bridesmaid or Grooms attire to complement the Bride.

Finally, can you give us your tops tips for creating a stunning interior?

Lighting – bright chandeliers, spotlights and lamps
Scents – subtle smelling diffusers placed around the store
Decorative Accessories – pampas grasses and neutral flower arrangements placed around the store.
