It’s not all about the bride at Bridal Week Harrogate - DoubleTWO Shirts are taking the groomswear sector by storm for the past eighty years. We find out more about their proudest achievements and latest collection ahead of this Autumn’s event.
In 1940, in the midst of the Second World War, Isaak Donner set up DoubleTWO to produce quality men’s shirts from a small, fourth floor, corner room of a building in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Innovation has been at the heart of the business, first inventing the replaceable collar, to creating the world’s first man-made fibre (polyester) shirt.
Continuing to innovate and be at the forefront of men’s formal fashion over the decades. We are proud of what we have achieved so far, but are always looking forward.
Also, the vast majority of our polyester is recycled, and our cotton is from sustainable sources. We also utilise eco-friendly packaging for all of our products.
Fact 1: Our founder was a Jewish refugee who fled Nazi persecution just before the second world war, and came to Britain hoping for a better life for him and his family. He was welcomed with open arms and started up a successful shirt business in 1940.
Fact 2: The name DoubleTWO originally comes from the fact our shirts came with a free replaceable collar, which meant our shirts had "double" the life of a normal shirt of the time.
Fact 3: We’ve been around for over 80 years, producing millions of shirts with innovation always being the heart of what we do.
Our shirts are designed and researched in our Yorkshire based headquarters, before being manufactured overseas’ using the utmost ethical practices. Our latest collection is inspired with the modern man in mind, perfect for the groom and his party: It’s top quality, stylish, and inclusive. One of our standout pieces is Paradigm - this collection of shirts is made from 100% Non-Iron Cotton Twill, coming in a variety of colours, fits and cuffs.
It is important to us because we believe our shirts are perfect for the groom on their special day. Our shirts come in a variety of styles, colours and sizes, meaning the groom and his party have unrivalled choice and quality. We’ve also got exciting new developments coming our way, but you’ll have to stay tuned to find out what they are!
