British bridalwear brand Halfpenny London has branched out into eveningwear with a glamorous collection of black gowns
Founded by former celebrity stylist in 2005, Halfpenny London has become one of the UK’s leading bridalwear brands. It’s stocked in multiple boutiques across the world and has recently become available on Net-A-Porter too.
The Black Edit was born after Kate experienced increasing demand for her bridal designs to be adapted so they could be worn by celebrities and key fashion industry figures for glamorous red carpet events. She started revisiting her archives and recreating some of her most iconic designs – but in black for a dramatic dose of gothic glamour.
The collection was launched at her bridalwear shop and atelier in Woburn Walk, London and was attended by celebrity guests, including reality TV star Millie Mackintosh and model Daisy Lowe.
“The Black Edit is a decadent, unashamedly bold collection of exquisite pieces, fusing contemporary styling and distinctive silhouettes from my bridal collection,” explains Kate, “With my obsession for wearing black and with the rare opportunity to work in dark colours it is super exciting to release this edit of black dresses and separates for everyone to wear.”
We caught up with Kate ahead of the launch to ask her about some of her iconic bridal designs, what inspired her to launch the new collection and what she thinks retailers can do to help navigate today’s tricky climate – watch the video below!
