Royal bride Harriet Phillips embraces 2026’s key wedding dress trend in a bespoke Emilia Wickstead lace gown

Peter and Harriet Phillips have released two official photographs from their wedding day, offering a glimpse into the Royal celebrations following their marriage in Gloucestershire over the weekend.
The images were taken after the couple exchanged vows at All Saints Church and during their wedding reception at Gatcombe Park, which is the home of Peter’s mother, Princess Anne. Harriet Phillips (née Sperling) wore a bespoke lace gown to wed Peter Phillips, the eldest grandson of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Fashion was firmly in the spotlight on the day, with Harriet choosing a bespoke design by Emilia Wickstead. The designer, who has a flagship store on Sloane Street, London, is renowned for her elegant collections, which are a favourite among royalty and other high-profile figures. In fact, many of her designs have been worn by the Princess of Wales.
Lace has re-emerged as one of bridal fashion’s key trends this year, appearing across designer collections and industry trend forecasts alike, with brides increasingly embracing romantic detailing and texture. Mrs Phillips’ gown reflected that growing appetite for lace-led designs. The elegant full-length gown featured long lace sleeves and a high neckline layered over a chic square-neck column underdress, paired with a dramatic cathedral-length veil edged in matching lace. Traditional yet contemporary, the look captured the timeless elegance that continues to make lace a favourite.
As explored in our recent feature on the resurgence of lace with bridal designers Josephine Scott and Bridal Collective, the trend reflects a broader shift towards romantic, detail-rich bridalwear. The article can be found in Bridal Buyer Issue Two 2026.
Josephine Scott told us: “Lace has always carried emotion, femininity and heritage, but today’s bride is reconnecting with it in a far more intentional way.” Meanwhile, Bridal Collective noted: “Brides are rediscovering lace because it offers both heritage and individuality. After a couple of seasons dominated by ultra-minimal satin and clean crepe, there’s a renewed desire for texture, dimension and detail.”
Mrs Phillips completed her bridal look with earrings by Pragnell, the Pragnell family tiara and shoes by Jimmy Choo.
