Returning to the White Gallery runway for the second time, the Lalunah Bride team showcased a selection of their latest designs on the catwalk. Their most recent collection includes romantic designs with modern, fashion-forward silhouettes, incorporating the brand’s signature botanical laces and bespoke beading. Luxurious and sophisticated, each of the designs truly made their mark on the catwalk.

We caught up with Carolina Turner to discuss their latest collection as seen on the White Gallery runway:

Where did you look for creative inspiration when designing the pieces?

After a visit to the botanical gardens in Cambridge, where they have a huge collection of plants from all over the world, I was inspired to source gorgeous floral laces to incorporate into my designs. So fundamentally, it was easy to take this inspiration and run with it.

What was it like seeing the designs come to life on the catwalk?

It’s always exciting seeing my designs on real women, and particularly exciting to see them on a runway with special lighting, models and music. It’s always a real buzz to see the culmination of all my hard work condensed into a runway show. It’s a great feeling!

Can you talk us through the design process for this collection?

For this collection I started by researching botanical plants and birds, then I went on to search for botanical laces and complimentary materials to sit alongside them. I also researched current trends and cultural influences on fashion today. Once I felt that I had enough inspiration, I started draping on the stand and sketching my designs. All my patterns and samples were made in my studio.

What fabrics and materials did you incorporate into these pieces?

This collection consists of large floral botanical laces coupled with a selection of bridal fabrics such as soft floaty satin, silk and tulle. I have also incorporated my signature hummingbird motifs and custom beading details.

There is so much pressure for designers to come out with new collections season after season - how do you keep your designs fresh?

When it comes to designing a collection, my focus is to design garments that people fall in love with and want to wear. I never really know how my vision will be received, I just create garments that I love and feel excited by.

Why did you decide to take part/why do you think that the White Gallery Fashion Shows are important?

This is my second time showcasing my collection on the runway at White Gallery, and after having such a positive experience the first time, I couldn’t wait to show again! The runway show allows me to position my designs in front of industry professionals and potential buyers, which in turn generates publicity and a buzz around the label.

Do you have any trend forecasts for the year ahead? What’s going to be popular with brides in 2024?

More sparkle and separates. Brides looking to make more of a statement may opt for non-traditional colours such as metallics, floral prints and bold colours.

Which particular piece are you the most proud of? Can you tell us a little bit about it?

I’m particularly proud of my first runway look: my high neck lace gown, Lillian. This gown is hand-embellished with individual lace flowers to create modesty while still showing a nude effect. This dress embodies the botanical theme of the collection.
