Ronald Joyce showcased their most recent designs at this year’s Bridal Week London. The collection focussed on the ability for each bride to personalise their dress to suit their day with many dresses containing detachable sleeves and overskirts. Ronald Joyce produced a collection of glamourous gowns featuring flowing A-line ball gowns, intricate lace high necks, and elegant long sleeves which embodied luxury and timeless chic.

We spoke to Veni Infantino from Ronald Joyce, to discuss their latest collection as seen on the Bridal Week London runway:

Who or what inspired your latest collection?

My daughter, Claudia, had her wedding postponed twice due to Covid-19, so I fully understand the stress that brides had to go through and how good it felt to finally get married and dance and party surrounded by friends and family. Claudia had asked me to design 3 different looks that she could wear throughout the day, one with long sleeves and a high neckline for the ceremony, one beautiful plain gown for the wedding breakfast and one sparkly halterneck with a minimal train for the dancing. This collection has been designed with this in mind for brides who want to have fun and enjoy their special day. Not every bride can afford more than one dress so many of the dresses in this collection have been designed with detachable overskirts and sleeves which can be removed for dancing the night away. Claudia’s ceremony dress is available to buy in this collection (69772 and matching veil 69773).

Where do you look for creative inspiration/who are your biggest influences?

I have always lived, and breathed fashion and I take some inspiration from the runway shows of my favourite fashion designers. However, my biggest inspiration is real women. When I meet them at our events, I really listen to what they want and most importantly how they want to feel and what their areas of concern are.

Can you let us into some design secrets/the process behind creating the pieces?

There can be a lot of back and forth to get designs correct. I love working on my sketches, researching fabrics and bringing the final dress together. There are often various tweaks during this process to ensure that everything sits correctly on the body and allows for maximum movement and wearability.

How do you keep your designs fresh season after season?

Research! A huge amount of time goes into researching trends from couture to high street, as well as looking back at what has worked in both history and past collections. I am always looking for new textiles and fabrics, as well as listening to what brides and understanding.

Do you have any trend forecasts for the year ahead? What’s going to be popular with brides in 2023?

Detachables are still very much in demand – brides want to change-up and personalise their look throughout the day to give the illusion of multiple dresses without the extra expense. High necks are very popular too, as worn by Paris Hilton and Lily Collins. Boho and relaxed minimalistic styles are very popular for abroad weddings. Romantic A-lines and ballgowns will always be very classic styles and will not date.

What trends/designs were most popular amongst retailers at Bridal Week London?

Our most popular buys were classic A-line ball gowns 69751 and 69784, relaxed sparkle floaty boho style 69786, and sparkle bodice with plain ball gown skirt and detachable sleeves 69762.

You hosted a Private Fashion Show at Bridal Week London. Can you pick out your top three designs that were featured on the runway and tell me a bit about each of them?

The three dresses that received the best reaction were 18677 from our Victoria Jane collection which is a vintage style romantic with a high neck and long sleeves. Then we ended the show with two showstopping ballgowns – 69759 & 69787. 69759 has the wow factor as we also offer it in pale blue with bright pink flowers. Another wow dress is our 69787, this is a very romantic ballgown with ruffled tulle and organsa. We offer this dress in light gold, as seen on our website!

How did you decide on which designs to put on the runway?

It is quite hard to decide what to showcase as I could only have a small number of the collection on show, and I wanted to show them all! I try to pick dresses that are memorable and distinctive so that when customers ask us the show, we can identify which styles they are talking about. We use the runway to show off the latest trends, new ideas and cover each silhouette, fabric, sleeve style, neckline and back detail. So, this season on our runway you could see overskirts, removable sleeves, high necklines, jumpsuits, sparkle, lace, halternecks, ballgowns, A-lines, fit & flares, satin, sheer bodices, long sleeves, tulle, shoulder pads, classsics, off the shoulder looks, lingerie inspired bodices, Bridgerton inspired necklines, petticoat style skirts, 3D flowers and ruffles!
