Honouring the legendary British fashion designer as we review her Made to Order 2026 bridal collection.

As we approach the anniversary of Vivienne Westwood’s death we are reminded of the revolutionary impact she had on fashion. This is reflected in her achievement of being named British Fashion Designer of the Year, three times. Known for her fearless creativity and boundary-pushing designs, Westwood’s bridal collections continue to inspire. In honour of her memory and continued legacy, we have selected our five favourite pieces from her Made to Order 2026 bridal collection, one that showcases her ability to challenge tradition whilst celebrating individuality.
The Mini Bagatelle is a popular version of the iconic Nova Bagatelle. Its silhouette features a softly sculpted bodice, cinched waist, and romantic neckline that drapes gracefully across the shoulders, similar to the Vivienne Westwood mini dress worn by Sophie Habboo to her first wedding ceremony. The mini skirt features, structured pleats, enhancing volume and movement and discreet, practical pockets, as well as removeable panniers, allowing brides and retailers versatility in how the piece is presented and styled.
The luxurious duchesse satin allows for a subtle sheen, which elevates the gown adding a polished, premium finish. The Mini Bagatelle is a popular choice for brides seeking a playful yet sophisticated look, or perhaps a shorter dress for the festivities of their special day.
The Bonny Jacket and Bonny Trousers offers brides an alternative look for those seeking modern suiting. The Bonny Jacket defines the shoulders and tapers softly at the waist, before finishing in an elongated, floor-skimming tail that can be styled in multiple ways. This also gives retailers flexibility when presenting the look across different bridal aesthetics.
The coordinating Bonny Trousers complement the jacket’s sculptural silhouette with a wide leg design and a natural waistline, offering comfort and elegance. Similar to the Mini Bagatelle, the Bonny Trousers also feature practical, yet discreet, side pockets, without compromising the ensemble’s elegant style.
Mixing heritage with contemporary bridal design, the Kitten Corset and Princess Skirt deliver a fresh, fashion-forward take on iconic Westwood styling. The Kitten Corset features a square neckline and adjustable self-tie straps. Available in plain or printed silk organza, as well as light stretch satin with a placement rose motif, the corset also offers versatile styling options and lasting wear beyond the wedding day.
Paired with the voluminous Princess Skirt, the look is a statement bridal ensemble. The layering features of the skirt certainly reflect Westwood’s design style, where bold and dynamic silhouettes are central in challenging traditional fashion norms. Crafted with nearly 30 metres of silk organza, the skirt features ruffles stitched in wave-like, irregular formations, creating movement and depth, whilst adding a playful touch.
The Vixen dress feels both contemporary and timeless and is one of our personal favourites from the collection. Made from light stretch satin, the dress gracefully drapes over a structured corset, sculpting the décolletage, whilst softly flowing across the torso. A key feature of the design are the two detachable lengths of fabric which offer versatile styling, draping across the arms, tying at the back, or transforming into a neck scarf, allowing the bride to personalise her look.
The structured corset softly accentuates the waist and hips before the fabric cascades down into an hourglass silhouette. The finishing touch of a short train offers a blend of fluidity and understated drama, making the Vixen dress an elegant choice.
The Elisa gown provides a modern and sensual take on bridal elegance, from its soft, sculpted drapery to its open back design and thigh-high split. The drapery offers an alternative to traditional corsetry, complete with an asymmetric halter-neck, whilst a sense of movement and drama are added by the extended train that skims the floor. The Elisa gown is perfect for brides seeking a balance of understated allure and elegance.
Vivienne Westwood’s Made to Order 2026 bridal collection certainly showcases her unique craftmanship and artistry, whilst reimagining the classic romanticism of the past. With ruffled tulle and soft, translucent organza, the designs offer elegance and drama for multiple bridal aesthetics, whilst catering for the modern bride’s need for individuality.
“I see fashion as a proposal, a way to make people look more wonderful” – Vivienne Westwood.
