We caught up with the Kelsey Rose team following their Bridal Week London runway to find out more about the design process and the standout piece in their latest collection.
London-based bridal brand Kelsey Rose are at the cutting-edge of British bridal fashion. Showcasing a selection of the most chic and contemporary looks on this year’s runway, The Kelsey Rose team ensure each piece is perfect for the new era of brides. With laid back separates complemented by intricate laces and embroidery, there truly is something for everyone.
The brand spoke to us about what inspired their pieces on the Bridal Week London runway:
From elopements to garden parties, destination weddings to registry office ceremonies - our starting point is always an informal take on bridal style. Each piece is curated with the wearer in mind to ensure she feels comfortable, lined in jersey for the ultimate effortless feel so she can dance the night away.
It feels very rewarding seeing our designs come to life on the catwalk! Seeing the whole Kelsey Rose vision come together with styling, music and visuals is a great way to introduce the brand to new retailers as well as showcase our new collection to current retailers.
At the beginning of each season research is done into the upcoming trends for the season. We also carefully look at what our brides have been loving from the past season, taking inspiration from them.
Lace choices and detailing are what makes a Kelsey Rose dress so we work on sourcing new and exciting laces to introduce to the collection. We experiment with layering lace trims, creating new and exciting design ideas with a fashion twist.
Each dress goes through a meticulous fitting process to perfect every single seam.
We are always sourcing new fabrics and trims to keep the collection feeling new and fresh. The Kelsey Rose bride is an unconventional one, this gives us the freedom to experiment and try new and fun design ideas that are suited to a laid-back, modern wedding!
The last couple of years have been particularly important to us as a brand when it comes to having a presence at the shows. Since rebranding Kelsey Rose back in 2020, Bridal Week has been a great tool for us to re-educate the industry on who we are and what we do. Kelsey Rose has always been known as the sister brand of Ellis Bridals and as a bridesmaid brand for many years. Now we are known as a brand in our own right, offering fun and easy to wear bridal looks with a fashion twist at an affordable price point. Retailing under £1,000 and with stock availability, Kelsey Rose is the perfect solution to targeting the indecisive Gen-Z bride.
For us the Kelsey Rose bride is always someone looking to add personality to her bridal look so we are seeing a continuation of the trend of multiple looks. We have expanded on our separates collection with new fun tops for looks that could take a bride to all the different events surrounding her wedding.
As a response to the trend towards more relaxed wedding venues, we have focused the brand towards a more informal bride. With this new era of weddings comes an expectation of shorter lead times for their dress. Embracing this change we have increased our stock availability for short-turn arounds. Combined with a new retailer portal offering live stock we have made it much easier for our retailers catering to those laid-back brides.
Callie has been a real favourite with our retailers. A cool-girl crepe with unique lace panelling in her thigh split and side seam cut-outs. She brings the elements of a sexy crepe style into a more relaxed A-line silhouette catering to the bride who wants the clean look with sexy details but who doesn’t want a fitted dress. Retailing under £900 she is a real winner!
