Georgia Flynn, Creative Project Manager at True Bride, discusses the origins of the company and gives us a look into the latest collection they’re showcasing at Bridal Week Harrogate.
Designer Nicki Flynn debuted her True Bride label at the Harrogate Bridal Show back in 2005 after setting out on her own following 15 years of creating collections and building business for others. True Bride arrived with a distinctive flair for creating original, stylish dresses that filled a gap in the bridesmaid market; the wide range of colour, designs and sizes captured the buyers’ imaginations and became the cornerstone for the brand. Over time we have expanded to house four distinct bridal labels and three bridesmaid collections offering a wide range of price points, designs and signature looks that help brides and their maids feel their very best.
True Bride has four unique bridal collections, each catering to a specific niche within the industry. True Curves creates the dresses plus-size brides want, Brighton Belle is a selection of retro-inspired tea lengths, True Bride is a diverse collection of gowns with designs for every body, and Nicki Flynn by True Bride is a refined collection of classic styles with modern elements and vintage heart.
It definitely has to be winning Best bridesmaid Manufacturer at the Bridal Buyer Awards; it was a true honour to be recognised for all the hard work our team puts in year after year and a testament to everything our founder, Nicki, had created.
This season’s designs are crafted from the idea of intentionality; that each pleat, each detail, each design holds a reasoning behind it. Poetry is a lyrical choice, holding within itself the idea of a flowing softness that is purposefully designed. The True Bride & Nicki Flynn by True Bride collections are drawn around modern classics. We’ve taken timeless silhouettes and layered contemporary laces or soft beadwork to add dimensions and a sweetness to the styles. True Curves brings a contemporary edge with luxurious crepe styles that are born from new silhouettes. The element of glamour is ever present with beaded lace fit and flare styles and sophisticated Mikado ball gowns. Our fastest growing collection, this season brings new shapes and detailing for the plus size bride. Brighton Belle is retro styling at its best. With full floaty organza sleeves, velvet bows, pleated tulle bodices and open keyhole necklines we’ve brought elements of Old Hollywood glitz to this collection. Our bridal collections focus on creating designs that will have birds falling in love for a lifetime rather than what’s currently trending as each collection encompasses a wide range of design elements.
Bridal Week Harrogate is one of our favourite times of the year! Beyond being excited to showcase our newest designs, it’s a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with stockists, both new and existing, admire the creativity on the catwalks , and really just enjoy the atmosphere of the show. It’s the best of the best in one place and we love being a part of it.
