We saw some fresh new styles emerge, and popular trends were set, on the runway at Harrogate in September, and even more throughout the three-days of the exhibition. Here are five of our favourites that we think will be big news for 2025 brides and beyond…

Trend One: Architectural necklines

Even the most traditional silhouette can be elevated and taken to the next level with a clever neckline. Across the show, we were falling in love with the contemporary twist on sharp, almost architectural angles. From asymmetric detailing to bold peaks – this trend feels fresh and embraces couture fashion influences. We adored the ballgown twist on this style from British label Freda Bennet, and Sottero & Midgley’s Nesrine gown, with its slinky silhouette – perfect for cool, edgy brides.

Trend Two: Contemporary ballgowns

There will always be a market and desire for ballgowns, but it feels like there is a fresh focus on the silhouette this season. Our favourite dresses are precisely cut, using quality, weighty fabrics with a stunning drape. And we are not talking low-key, soft A-line ballgowns, we’re talking bold silhouettes with full, dreamy princess skirts – check out Royal by Diane Legrand’s Grace dress. The styles are largely unadorned in terms of lace and appliqué, but delicate detailing adds to the appeal – we adore the pearl trim on Moonlight’s Style H1604.

Trend Three: Off shoulder & figure-hugging

Off shoulder sleeves, or sleeveless gowns which embrace the form of the body are big news this season. It’s a sultry vibe with huge appeal – dresses offer a glamorous look that highlights the beauty of the shoulders and décolletage. We can’t get enough of the gowns from Madi Lane and Evie Young, which have bags of detail to add a new twist. Folding, ruching, layering fabrics and mixing translucencies, as well as contemporary appliqué details and more.

Trend Four: Mini length, maxi detail

The trend for mini wedding dresses isn’t going anywhere fast. Brides are embracing shorter looks for their evening party, for their town hall wedding and for their cocktail party affairs. What’s emerging this season is some styles that offer impact beyond the length of the dress. We’re talking large over-sized bows – Kelsey Rose has a stunning example – really structural styles and dresses with huge amounts of detailing. Dando London opened the Harrogate runway show in a style we swooned over – a really structural bodice with 3D florals gracing the neckline and all over the skirt.

Trend Five: Textural mix

We’ve loved how designers have been mixing textures as focal points over the last few seasons. At Bridal Week there were some stand out examples, with all kinds of silhouettes – both bold and slinky – and detachables used to add layers of textural difference. Teresa Atelier masterfully blended beadwork, with delicate 3D florals into slimline styles – and their range of lighter-than-air overskirts added a totally new dimension. We also adored the Lucia dress and overskirt from new label, Zuri Bridal. The layers of the overskirt against the slim dress offered a striking effect.
