Jesus Peiro 2026: Merche Segarra Snapshots Q+A

What was the moment you knew you wanted to work in bridal?

As soon as I was introduced to the creative department at Jesus Peiro. And then the owner asked me to lead it!

Describe your work in three words. No overthinking!

Research, creativity, rigour

What’s one bridal trend you’re loving right now – and one you’re ready to retire?

I am really enjoying a couple of trends; firstly fluid draping, and secondly low hips/low waist styles. I am ready for excessive shine to retire!

Who in the industry inspires you, past or present, and why?

I’ve always admired the extraordinary work Vera Wang has done in the bridal industry. She was a true visionary who redefined and elevated the modern wedding dress, bringing both dignity and innovation to bridal fashion.

What’s one part of your job that never feels like “work”?

Creating never feels like work to me. I’m endlessly fascinated by the process of designing and planning a dress; solving each detail. It’s something I truly enjoy and never grow tired of."

What’s one behind-the-scenes secret people wouldn’t expect about your role?

People might be surprised by how collaborative this work really is. Despite the glamour associated with bridal fashion, day-to-day, it’s grounded in teamwork and shared effort across every department.

What’s your go-to way to get inspired when you’re in a creative rut?

I reconnect with the fabrics. Touching them, seeing how they move, and imagining how they can be transformed – it always brings fresh inspiration.

What’s a bridal myth you wish more people understood wasn’t true?

That there are strict rules about what can be worn, based on tradition or location. You can absolutely mix elements, fabrics, and volumes in unexpected ways. Personal expression should always come before protocol.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received about working in bridal, or fashion in general?

That there are still many dresses to be discovered!

Is there a dream collaboration or project you’d love to do someday?

I would love to create a collection in collaboration with a visual artist, where each piece is inspired by and in dialogue with their artwork.

What’s the most unexpectedly emotional moment you’ve had on the job?

One of the most emotional moments was during a collection finale, when my youngest son walked onto the runway and presented me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Complete the sentence: “The future of bridal is…”

The future of bridal is suggestive!
