Tell us the company’s history, how you started and how the brand has developed.

Maggie began as a woman-led company, and the family legacy continues today.

Over 25 years ago, Wayne and Lesley Webster started a boutique in Sydney, Australia. As the brand grew, Lesley Margaret (“Maggie”) Webster assumed the name of “Maggie Sottero” in honor of her great-grandmother. Now, Lesley’s daughter, Kelly Midgley, has followed in her footsteps and assumed the role of CEO and Creative Director in 2020.

“My family has been in the bridal business for about 45 years now. Growing up in the bridal business was such a joy. As a little kid, I would hide in the racks of our bridal boutique and scare our customers. I would always have conversations with our staff and our vendors, and they were always so kind to me. They made me feel like family. It was such a wonderful experience growing up in that environment. Throughout my life, my mother and grandmother have been my greatest influence. They were such strong ladies in business and taught me that there are no barriers. If you want something and work hard, you will find a way to make things happen. I’m so excited to start introducing my twin girls to Maggie. I truly feel so fortunate to have these experiences as a business owner of a women-led company, as well as a mom." - Kelly Midgley.

Maggie Sottero established two additional labels. Sottero and Midgley was born for the chic and statement-making bride. Rebecca Ingram embodied another family name, Kelly’s great-great-grandmother, and made the trio of collections complete with its perfect convergence of style and affordability.

Maggie Sottero stands for LOVE and love for ALL– including Mother Earth.

“We are rising to meet this critical moment for people and the planet. We’re implementing systems change throughout our organization, embedding sustainability as a core value for every team in support of a more sustainable wedding industry. We are working as quickly as we can to reduce our environmental impact, taking ambitious action in three key areas: Waste Reduction, Resource Consumption, and Protecting Biodiversity.”- Patricia DeLaunay, Global Sustainability Director and Designer.

We are working to become a more regenerative brand. We’re investing in the circular textile supply chain, and the Spring 2024 collection will debut select gowns with lower-impact materials, such as recycled polyester and yarn-dyed fabrics.
