Bridal ballgowns are having a real moment – stunning volume, beautiful cuts and really considered detailing. We take a look at one of our favourite designs for a celebration wedding day
Ballgowns are back… not that this trend ever really goes away, but this season’s styles are all about beautiful lines, luxury fabrics and elegant detailing. And of course, the dropped Basque waist. A stand-out dress for us comes from Moonlight, Style H1604.
The dress is part of Moonlight’s latest collection – Spring 2025 – which the label’s Pat Giuliano tells us was inspired by modern romance and regal elegance. “These gowns redefine bridal sophistication with a blend of classic and contemporary elements. We have artfully incorporated regal features, such as sculpted bodices, Basque waistlines and full ballgown silhouettes.”
Every style in the collection is thoughtfully designed to highlight the bride’s natural beauty with intention and precision. Incorporating fresh elements, such as textured luxe fabrics, striking cat-eye necklines, and intricate beaded accents, each gown is crafted to enhance its allure. The elongated bodice creates a sleek and flattering fit, while delicate hand-beaded details introduce an element of artisanal craftsmanship and luxury.
H1604 is a bridal ballgown that’s the perfect marriage of drama and sophistication, crafted in luxe Mikado, which offers a rich sculptural quality to the gown. “The structured nature of this fabric helps create dramatic, flowing skirts that move gracefully,” explains Pat. “The fabric’s firmness allows for intricate bodice designs, and structured necklines, providing support and flattering the figure. The fabric’s sheen enhances the richness of the colour, making it visually striking.”
The gown’s silhouette has elements that are both dramatic and demure. And the attention to the finer details adds a real depth of luxury – the waistline is matched with the voluminous gown skirt, which falls in soft pleats away from the body, and then cascades into a sweeping train. Pat adds: “The combination of the Mikado fabric and ball gown silhouette makes a grand statement without overwhelming the bride.”
In terms of favourite features, for Bridal Buyer it’s that dreamy Basque waistline, characterised by its gently curved shape. “It’s designed to accentuate the natural waist while providing an elongated appearance to the torso,” explains Pat. “This creates a flattering silhouette that suits a variety of body types.”
Pat tells us that the brand adores the Basque element too, but also highlights the square neckline and pearl accented details. She tells us: “The neckline and waistline are enhanced by the gradient pearl accents and the combination of these elements embodies a perfect blend of sophistication, flattering design, and contemporary aesthetics. Ensuring that the bride feels both elegant and confident on her special day, while celebrating her unique style.”
