We know that trends come and go, but some fashions are so alluring and cherished that we see them resurface repeatedly. One such trend gaining popularity in the bridal world is a sense of glamour – we’re talking old Hollywood vibes.

These styles focus on feminine silhouettes, crafted in luxurious fabrics, with great attention to detail, creating a timeless sense of elegance and sophistication. "The resurgence of old Hollywood glamour in bridal fashion reflects a desire for timeless elegance and luxury,” says Bianco Evento. “Brides today are seeking more than just a dress; they’re looking for a statement piece that captures the romance and grandeur of bygone eras.”

Behind the style

So, how do we define this type of glamour? A style crafted with sophistication, luxury, and a touch of drama, characterised by intricate details like beading, and luxurious fabrics such as lace, high-quality Mikado, jacquard, or liquid satin. Key elements include standout features such as bold colours, lace motifs, and flattering silhouettes.

For Maggie Sottero, there’s also a demand for colourful gowns, full skirts, and Basque waists. “What more could a girl in her princess era want? Regal maximalism trends are perfect for those ‘more is more’ brides. Paris by Maggie Sottero, with iridescent soft pink fabric, embodies the très cool bride.”

Silhouettes & details

When it comes to silhouettes, there’s plenty of choice for that red-carpet look. Bianco Evento suggests: “Brides are drawn to silhouettes that showcase their figure and add a touch of drama. The mermaid silhouette remains a popular choice for its curve-enhancing shape, while ballgowns provide timeless cinematic grandeur. Sheath gowns are also favoured for their sleek and elegant lines."

Necklines and sleeves make a big impact, too. Maggie Sottero suggests: “The V-neck remains a standout choice, offering a bold and elongating effect, while the cat eye neckline adds a unique, vintage-inspired touch with its angular shape. Sweetheart necklines are timelessly elegant, embodying the essence of glamour.”

Celebrity influences

Celebrity weddings have a significant influence on bridal trends, capturing media attention and inspiring brides worldwide. Val Stefani highlights Ellie Goulding, Sofia Richie, and Hailey Bieber. “Hailey’s wedding featured a custom lace gown combining classic romance with modern details, including off-the-shoulder sleeves and a fitted silhouette, influencing brides seeking timeless sophistication.”

Jordan Ewing of Zuri Bridal agrees that celebrity weddings often set trends, with many brides drawing inspiration from their favourite stars. She says: “Our Lucia style is inspired by Paige Butcher’s wedding dress, featuring a corseted bodice, delicate beaded lace appliqués, and a buttoned back. The optional ruffle tulle half overskirt allows brides to enjoy two distinct looks for their special day.”

Comfort & glamour

While brides want to look stunning, they also want to feel comfortable. At Zuri Bridal, Jordan explains that gowns are carefully made with internal corsets, silky satin linings, and sturdy boning. “The Gia gown embodies old Hollywood glamour with its luxurious Mikado fabric, Basque waist, and modern structured bodice.”

Val Stefani echoes this, stating that balancing glamour with comfort is key. Her tips include choosing styles with flattering and comfortable silhouettes, and looking for adjustable features like corset backs, detachable straps, or convertible elements. “These allow you to customise your gown for comfort throughout the day.”
