Last week saw the launch of Rolling In Roses’ new collection, Sinners, coinciding with the label’s 10th anniversary. Founded in 2016, the brand may have evolved collection by collection, but at its core it remains the same: creating slow, intentional fashion that is as earth-friendly as possible.

Hayley Neil, the creative force behind the label, has always drawn from an eclectic mix of influences spanning art, sculpture and music. Her pieces are designed for joy and ceremony, honouring individuality and the diverse bodies that will wear them. The brand’s design codes are never forgotten: thoughtful detail, quiet confidence and authentic style.

Sinners is a beautiful blend of sculpture and softness, fluid curves and unexpected angles. Delicate draping is employed to striking effect throughout the line, brought to life through a bouquet of glorious fabrics, each selected for its sustainability, tactility, texture and the way it catches the light. As Hayley explains: “As always, I drew inspiration from myriad sources: the romance and rebellion of ’90s McQueen, the femininity of ’80s Oscar de la Renta, and the sculptural precision of Charles James’ groundbreaking pattern cutting from the ’40s and ’50s. Alongside these, there are influences from Victorian bustle skirts and corsetry, all combined with our signature fluid bias dressmaking and asymmetrical lines.”

Fabric is clearly a passion for Hayley, who says she is constantly researching and learning about sustainable, planet-friendly innovations. “I’m incredibly proud that 97.5% of the fabrics used are sustainably certified – beautiful materials, chosen with care, to create something meaningful and lasting.”

Five Defining Pieces 

From sculptural corsetry to fluid draping, these are the five pieces that perfectly capture the romance, craftsmanship and artistry at the heart of Sinners.

1. Odalisque

How this gown drapes across the body is nothing short of exquisite. Striking slashed-cowl detailing at both the front and back creates a sense of movement, lending the silhouette effortless elegance. The style takes its name from Odalisque, the celebrated 19th-century marble sculpture by James Pradier, a work that challenged prevailing conventions surrounding the depiction of the sensual female form.

Crafted from Italian viscose crêpe, the gown is gloriously fluid. The fibres are derived from by-products of the cotton industry and are certified to global recycling standards, helping to divert waste from landfill. It is lined in organic bamboo charmeuse, a certified natural fibre that is both soft and breathable.

2. Cupid Corset

Named after Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss by Antonio Canova, this piece is stunning in its precision. A straight-cut mid-bust silhouette and lace-up back nod to the creative styling of the 1990s, lending the piece a strong architectural quality. Victorian-inspired busk fastenings complete the front. The outer is crafted from organic hemp silk (60% hemp and 40% silk), a biodegradable and compostable fabric, and is lined in 100% cotton coutil.

3 & 4. Venus Corset & Orpheus Skirt

Another design inspired by the work of Antonio Canova, this time his Venus Italica, the Venus Corset echoes the beautifully draped folds seen in the marble sculpture. Crafted using traditional Victorian corsetry techniques, it balances structure with soft organic draping. It pairs perfectly with the Orpheus Skirt, named after a sculpture by Barbara Hepworth. Intricate draping and asymmetrical seams create a richly textured silhouette that catches and reflects the light beautifully. Both pieces are made from organic hemp silk, with the corset lined in 100% cotton coutil and the skirt finished with an organic bamboo charmeuse lining.

5. Eternal Spring

This piece takes its name from a photograph by Nan Goldin depicting Eternal Springtime by Auguste Rodin, juxtaposed with an intimate image of contemporary lovers. The dress is crafted from a richly textured Italian brocade made from recycled polyester and organic silk. A scoop neckline at both the front and back complements the elegant column silhouette. Fresh and modern, yet timelessly chic, it is a fitting embodiment of the collection’s blend of romance and refinement.
