The renowned British bridal designer, known for her exquisite craftsmanship and timeless elegance, tells us about this this stunning drop-waist gown from the 2024 Harmony collection
With her skill and craftsmanship, Sassi Holford is a designer that has the adoration of the British bridal industry. With over 40 years in the fashion under her belt, Sassi has built a reputation for creating gowns that blend classic style with contemporary design.
Year after year, Sassi Holford collections are characterised by luxurious fabrics, meticulous attention to detail, and an emphasis on flattering silhouettes – created specifically to enhance the natural beauty of each bride. The designer’s gowns are crafted in her studio in Taunton, Somerset, and her flagship boutique is located in Chelsea, London – where countless A-listers and royalty have been dressed for special occasions.
Sassi Holford’s 2024 collection is Harmony – named as a reflection of the uncompromising embrace of splendour and romance that wedding gowns embody. “Every design in the collection is considered, with every detail rich with Sassi’s instinctive ability to harmonise luxurious fabrics with confident and nostalgic silhouettes,” says Eve Gregg, the label’s Marketing Manager. “The collection combines contemporary yet traditional elements, such as nipped waists and striking necklines, to create timeless looks that frame the face and collar bones.”
The dresses in the line are diverse in their silhouettes and in detailing. We adore the floral styles with their stunning pops of colour, as well as the level of texture and volume some of the gowns offer.
This week’s hot pick is Bella – a beautiful gown made in exquisite blush duchess floral Jacquard, featuring sheer godet panels in the full skirt, it is finished to perfection with a dramatic deep square neck and back. Eve tells us that Bella was inspired by the resurgence of the drop waist, which can be seen in many of Sassi Holford’s earlier collections. “The gown’s design evolved to include an exquisite blush duchess floral Jacquard fabric, and is defined by a full skirt with feature sheer godet panels, complemented by a dramatic deep square neck and back,” says Eve.
The dress feels opulent and totally unique, but also has that classic edge that will stand the test of time. “The Bella gown would be perfect for a wedding theme that emphasises romance and grandeur, such as a classic or fairytale-inspired wedding,” says Eve. “The gown’s luxurious fabrics and timeless design elements would complement a setting that exudes timeless elegance and sophistication.”
There is so much to love about the Bella by Sassi Holford, and Bridal Buyer has been swooning over the structure of the bodice against the flowing skirt – with that perfectly-crafted square neckline.
Eve explains that this was achieved by meticulously designing the gown to harmonise luxurious fabrics with confident silhouettes. “Structured bodices are a hallmark of Sassi’s signature style and are one of the many reasons brides adore the fit of a Sassi Holford gown,” she says. “Sassi believes a dress should be a ‘hug not a squeeze’ allowing brides to feel comfortable while still providing all the necessary support and structure. The design of the Bella gown perfectly harmonises the structured bodice with the feminine, flowing skirt, creating a balanced and elegant silhouette.”
