It's always engagement season on social media

Engagement season is just around the corner, and Megan Garmers is back to offer her top tips on reviewing, refreshing or rebranding your social media strategy to resonate with next years brides-to-be.

Social media in 2025 continues to evolve with trends that demand creativity and authentic connections. As bridal retailers, mastering the art of engagement on Instagram and TikTok is essential to captivate brides-to-be and drive both brand awareness and sales. But what to post? How do you do it?
Here are the five most compelling types of posts to resonate with your audience and enhance your social media strategy.

Behind-the-Scenes (BTS) Content

One of the most effective ways to engage brides is through behind-the-scenes (BTS) content. Brides value authenticity and enjoy seeing the process and stories behind their dream wedding dress. According to recent studies, BTS content receives 20% more engagement than polished product showcases. This is largely because audiences perceive raw, unfiltered content as more relatable and genuine.
This type of content builds anticipation and curiosity. A video showcasing your team at work in your atelier or a short montage of fittings with real brides sharing their excitement adds an exclusive, behind-the-scenes feel while giving a clear understanding of what to expect if coming to your store.
Another example would be if you’re preparing for a big bridal show and your team is bustling with activity—steaming gowns, organising accessories, and ensuring every detail is perfect. Filming short clips of these moments and sharing them as part of a series titled “Behind the Veil” can give followers a deeper appreciation for the dedication and passion behind your brand. Brides-to-be who watch these posts may feel more connected to your brand, sparking their curiosity to keep watching your account, inquire to learn more or visit in person.
To leverage BTS content effectively, make sure to use captions that draw viewers in, such as, “Ever wondered how your gown is made perfect for your body? Here’s a sneak peek!” Pair these with candid shots and videos that show your team’s passion and expertise in tailoring and fitting a gown. This humanises your brand, giving viewers a reason to feel personally connected to your business. It’s not so different from when you watch a reality tv show and become invested in the stories and lives of the show you’re watching.

User-Generated Content (UGC)

User-generated content (UGC) is an incredibly powerful tool for bridal retailers. UGC taps into social proof—the psychological phenomenon where people rely on the actions and testimonials of others to make decisions. Data indicates that consumers are 2.4 times more likely to perceive UGC as authentic compared to branded content. This trustworthiness can translate directly into higher engagement rates and increased customer loyalty - which means more sales for you and even referrals because they are so happy.
Consider a bride who just celebrated her wedding and posts a heartfelt Instagram photo in your gown, captioned with, “I felt like an absolute princess in my dress from [YourStoreName]!” Sharing this on your own social media provides relatable, trust-building content. The bride’s followers see the post and are inspired by her happiness, which encourages them to explore your store.
To integrate this type of engagement content into your strategy, you could have a monthly “Real Bride Spotlight,” where you share a carousel post featuring photos and stories from brides who wore your gowns. These posts can include snippets about their unique wedding stories, why they chose that specific dress, and their memorable moments. This type of content not only amplifies engagement but also strengthens your brand’s image as one that celebrates its clients.
To encourage brides to contribute UGC, create a branded hashtag like #MyDreamDressBy[YourStoreName] and invite customers to share their moments. You can also have an Instagram wall or photo booth with your hashtag on the photo so as they post them, the hashtag is visible. Make sure to repost these stories (you only have 24 hrs!) and interact with the content by commenting, liking, and featuring them in your Stories or Reels. For instance, featuring a bride’s post with a caption like, “We loved seeing [Bride’s Name] glow on her special day!” shows appreciation and creates a sense of community. You could also add an incentive, such as a monthly giveaway for brides who use your hashtag, to further motivate participation.

Interactive Polls and Q&A Sessions

Interactive content is another essential trend for 2025 that can significantly boost engagement and algorithmic reach. Polls and Q&A sessions can increase post interactions by up to 30%, according to social media analytics reports. The interactive nature of these encourages followers to actively participate, making them feel involved and heard.
For instance, you could post an Instagram Story with a question, “Which wedding dress silhouette is your favorite for 2025: A-line or mermaid?” Brides love engaging in polls that allow them to express their opinions and share preferences. The simplicity of tapping a choice on a screen adds a layer of interaction that keeps viewers invested. Imagine following up with a result post, saying, “You chose the A-line! Here’s why it’s a classic favorite,” and showing a brief video of an A-line gown.
Similarly, hosting a TikTok Live Q&A session where followers can ask a bridal stylist about dress trends or wedding day tips adds an interactive, personal touch. Scenarios such as a bride planning a destination wedding may prompt questions like, “What type of fabric is best for my destination wedding in a tropical climate?” Answering these live can position your store as an authoritative and caring voice.

Trend Showcases and Educational Content

Brides-to-be are constantly researching the latest wedding fashion trends, making trend showcases and educational content highly effective. Providing informative posts not only attracts attention but also positions your store as a trusted industry expert. Statistics show that educational content can generate 23% more saves and shares compared to purely promotional posts, as brides value posts that they can return to for reference.
You could create an IG Reel titled, “Top Bridal Trends for 2025 You Need to Know” and pair clips of real models in trending gowns with on-screen text explaining the features that make each design unique (e.g., “Minimalist satin dresses: perfect for the modern bride”) to add a visual and educational element. Include CTAs like “Save this post for your bridal shopping inspiration!” or “DM us for personalised tips!” to encourage further interaction. This kind of well-rounded, informative content positions your store as a go-to expert in the bridal space. As you write your caption, think of scenarios where a bride-to-be, overwhelmed with choices, saves your carousel post for reference when she visits bridal boutiques.
You could also create a series of posts or videos titled “Bridal Fashion Facts,” where each post focuses on a specific trend, such as puff sleeves or boho lace designs. This approach engages brides who are looking for inspiration but may not know where to start. By offering digestible, trend-based information, your store stays at the forefront of bridal fashion education.

Personalised Style Recommendations

Personalised content adds a tailored value that enhances the shopping experience. A recent survey found that 80% of consumers are more likely to engage with brands that offer personalised experiences. This type of content helps bridal retailers speak directly to the unique preferences and needs of each bride.
One way to do this would be to create a TikTok series called “Find Your Perfect Dress Based on Your Wedding Vibe,” where each video showcases styles suited for different settings—from beach weddings to grand ballroom events. Such content helps brides visualise their own wedding day and makes them feel seen and understood. For example, a beach wedding-themed video could show lightweight, easy to pack/travel gowns paired with accessories, while a ballroom-themed video could highlight dramatic ballgowns with beaded detailing and cathedral-length veils.
Similarly, an Instagram Reel titled “Dresses for Every Body Shape” featuring models of varying shapes trying on different dress styles provides relatable, targeted advice. This not only helps brides-to-be see themselves in the content but also offers practical guidance on what might suit them best. Many curvy brides are anxious about dress shopping when they don’t look like the model who wore that design on the runway. Seeing a post that breaks down which silhouettes work best for her can give her the confidence to book a fitting.
Collaborate with bridal stylists to share tips and create content that speaks to these personalised needs. Captions like, “Are you a beach bride or a ballroom beauty? Comment below with your venue and let us help you pick!” invite engagement and create a sense of involvement. Additionally, consider posting stories where brides submit questions about dress recommendations based on their venue or personal style, and bridal stylists answer them in video responses.
To extend this personalised approach, you could create a short quiz linked in your Instagram bio or promoted in your TikTok videos. This quiz could ask questions about wedding themes, season preferences, and personal style to provide customised dress recommendations. Brides who complete the quiz could receive tailored follow-up content or exclusive discount codes. These interactive, personalised experiences can strengthen the bride’s connection to your brand and motivate them to visit your store for their dress-shopping journey.

If you want to succeed in 2025’s dynamic social media landscape, you must embrace diverse and engaging content strategies and have a clear plan to implement them. From showcasing authentic behind-the-scenes moments to fostering a community through user-generated content and personalised style advice, these post types resonate deeply with today’s modern brides. Interactive posts such as polls and Q&A sessions create a dialogue that enhances brand loyalty, while trend showcases and educational content establish your expertise in bridal fashion.
Not only do these strategies increase engagement, but they also foster meaningful relationships with brides-to-be, making them feel connected to you before they’ve even met you in-person. Including engagement strategies ensures your brand remains top-of-mind throughout their wedding journey, ultimately driving more traffic, trust, and sales for your business.
