Our Meet the Makers series is all about celebrating accessory designers and their small businesses, which are shaping modern bridal style. From jewellery and veils to shoes, bags and statement finishing touches, we’re meeting the creative minds behind the pieces helping brides curate a look that feels entirely their own.

Long, short, two tier, mantilla, Juliet – name a veil style, and Rebecca Anne Designs will know the intricacies. Her designs can be bold or delicate, or a perfect blend of the two, plus her bespoke work strikes a feeling of pure emotion and joy. From incorporating handwriting embroidery to personalised florals, patterns and more.

Based in Devon, Rebecca Anne works one-to-one with brides from all over the world to transform their stories, symbols, handwriting, florals and meaningful details into embroidery that becomes part of their wedding look. “My background is in fashion design, and I have always been drawn to the emotional detail within clothing,” she says. “A veil is such a powerful piece. It can completely change how a bride feels, but it also has the potential to become something far more personal than a finishing touch.”

Embroidery That Feels Meaningful

When asked to describe her style in three words, Rebecca Anne chooses: considered, sentimental and modern. She wants brides to feel completely themselves in one of her veils – confident and understood, and that they have that perfect finishing touch.

She says: “For me, a veil should never feel like something added at the last minute. It should feel intentional. Whether the design is minimalist and understated or much more statement-led, I want the bride to feel that it has been designed around her, her dress, her story and the way she wants to feel on the day.”

Rebecca Anne finds much of her inspiration through conversations with her brides. “I love hearing about the places, flowers, handwriting, family details, special sayings, landscapes or symbols that mean something to her and her partner. Those are often the starting points for the embroidery.”

The Creative Process

Every bespoke veil begins with a conversation. “Sometimes a bride comes to me with a very clear idea, such as initials, a date or a phrase in handwriting. Other times, she knows she wants something personal but has no idea what that should look like yet. That is where the design process really begins,” says Rebecca Anne.

She asks them about their dress, the setting, the overall feeling of the wedding and any meaningful details they might want to include. The next step is to begin sketching ideas to scale. “Once the artwork is agreed, I digitise the design for embroidery and create test stitches so I can check the scale, thread, density and finish,” she says.

That attention to detail continues throughout the making process. Every veil is produced to order in Rebecca Anne’s studio, allowing complete control over quality and craftsmanship from initial concept through to the finished piece. “Each veil is designed, sampled, embroidered and finished in-house, which allows me to keep a very close eye on quality from start to finish,” she says.

Aesthetics & Emotion

For Rebecca Anne, however, the craftsmanship is only one part of the story. The true value of a bespoke veil lies in its ability to transform not only a bridal aesthetic, but the emotional significance of what the bride wears on the day itself. “A veil has the ability to completely change the feeling of a bridal look. It can soften a structured gown, add drama to a minimalist dress, bring movement to photography, or create that very bridal moment without feeling predictable.”

It is this combination of fashion and sentiment that has become the hallmark of her work. Every element is about attention to detail – and with good reason. “I am proud that the brand has become known for story-led embroidered veils, and that brides trust me with details that are often very personal. To create something that becomes part of someone’s wedding day, and then part of their memories afterwards, is a real privilege.”
