Tell us a little bit about the latest collection

This season’s collection took inspiration from folklore trends and eastern artistry. Building upon my signature bohemian aesthetic, I have expanded my usual scope by incorporating 3D embroidery and experimenting with necklines and sleeves. I have maintained a tonal colour pallet of ivories, blushes and nudes against muted cappuccinos and delicate fabrics of Chantilly lace, tulle and soft Georgette. This collection is very romantic and displays a mixture of soft silhouettes and fuller gowns.

What do you see as your big trend story for 2018?

Bridalwear can seem static sometimes, due to the timeless appeal that brides want, styles can be kept very safe. However, in my latest collection, I have tried to portray a playfulness by experimenting with sleeves and necklines. Sleeves have been all the craze throughout 2017 tends, so I have incorporated a mixture of these into my collection. From full sleeves to cold-shoulders and bell sleeves I have developed a way of incorporating fast fashion trends into bridal wear in a way that is still ageless and elegant. I have also embraced a variety of necklines. Necklines and the fall of the dress are dependent on body shape, so I think it’s so important to have a range to suit different body types.

How did you find your first visit to White Gallery London?

Attending White Gallery for the first time was an eye-opener. Being in the UK ready-to-wear bridal market now for only 3 years, I found the show very informative. I grasped an understanding of the UK bridal marketplace better. Meeting other designers was a great advantage, hearing their stories and the accomplishments they have achieved so far was a positive push for me.

What response have you received since the show?

We have had great interest from many buyers and are currently in talks with independent boutiques across the UK. The overall reaction, which we received throughout the show was how great our price-points were for the quality of our gowns.

Raishma Q&A

What has been your most in-demand style?

Our best seller is our Alice gown which has been a staple style for us ever since we launched our Pret bridalwear. It's a classic shape with an illusion neckline and unique beading which fades out gradually as you reach the gaudets, giving the dress an elegant fall. The price-point sits well for our customers and sells out every season in John Lewis and in our own boutique.

And the new boutique? What has the reaction been like there?

We have received an unbelievable reaction since we launched our new store on York Street. We have had great support from our clients, customers and many publications who have covered the story. It's a very exciting time for us and we have many plans to use our boutique for more than just a place to shop, but as a space to do regular in-store events, appointments and one-to-one personal shopping experiences.

What are your trend predictions for the coming year – what do you think is the next big thing in bridal?

In the UK bridal industry, softer shapes seems to be the demanding silhouette. Gowns which are figure flattering and have dramatic, graceful falls are becoming more popular than the typical princess gowns. Capes and boleros are also becoming an increasingly popular trend as an accessory to be worn over gowns. Capes are great as they add drama to a gown without overwhelming it and offer two looks for the price one. Brides are able to wear the cape/bolero during the ceremony but then take it off to show the beauty of the dress at the reception.

What advice would you offer to retailers selling your styles?

The one thing I strive for in all my designs is excellent craftsmanship. Focusing on fit, having a meticulous eye for detail and using only the finest quality fabrics is vital to me. I would stress to any retailer selling my styles to focus on my USP which is the delicacy and uniqueness of my embroidery which is inspired very much by my eastern background, creating a distinctive look to my designs at an affordable price.
