1. What was the moment you knew you wanted to work in bridal?
I knew I wanted to be a designer from the moment I got my first sewing machine at just seven years old! This sparked my love for creating beautiful things. After studying fashion, I started out making custom eveningwear and quickly realised how much I loved designing pieces that made the wearer feel beautiful and confident. That naturally led to a few bridal gown requests and the rest was history.
2. Describe your work in three words. No overthinking!
Beautiful, creative and fulfilling
3. What’s one bridal trend you’re loving right now – and one you’re ready to retire?
One trend I’m really loving right now is the return of basque and drop waist gowns. They’ve been reimagined in such a modern, flattering way – and there’s a lovely sense of nostalgia to them, too. I remember so many brides wearing that style at weddings I attended in my childhood, but the updated versions feel sleek, fresh and elevated. As for a trend I’m ready to retire, it’s the idea that your dress has to be timeless. The truth is, everything dates eventually. What matters most is that you love your dress right now, because that happiness and how you feel in the moment will shine through in your memories and photos for years to come.
4. Who in the industry inspires you – past or present – and why?
Vera Wang without a doubt! She is so inspiring, she designed her first dress later in life, built a global brand and completely redefined bridal. A true icon!
5. What’s one part of your job that never feels like “work”?
I’d have to say being in bridal appointments, it truly never feels like work. It’s like playing dress-up with a group of friends, sharing in the excitement with the bride and her entourage. It’s such a special feeling to be part of one of the most important moments in someone’s life.
6. What’s one behind-the-scenes secret people wouldn’t expect about your role?
Probably that it’s not all glamorous, sometimes it really does come with a bit of blood, sweat and tears! From last minute fixes to long hours making sure every detail is perfect, there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to make all the magic happen.
7. What’s your go-to way to get inspired when you’re in a creative rut?
I like to focus on staying healthy and active, it really helps clear my mind. Spending quality time with friends and family also recharges me and sparks new ideas. Taking care of myself outside of work helps keep the creative juices flowing.
8. What’s a bridal myth you wish more people understood wasn’t true?
A common myth is that you have to try on hundreds of dresses to find “the one,” this can actually be overwhelming and confusing. The truth is, you’ll just know when you put on the right dress. It’s that instant feeling of confidence and excitement that makes it clear. You really just need to follow your heart.
9. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received about working in bridal – or fashion in general?
The best advice I’ve received is to stay true to your own design voice and brand’s aesthetic. Trends come and go, but authenticity lasts.
10. Is there a dream collaboration or project you’d love to do someday?
I’d absolutely love to collaborate with Jimmy Choo one day to design the perfect pair of wedding shoes. Blending my own aesthetic with their iconic style would be such a dream.
11. What’s the most unexpectedly emotional moment you’ve had on the job?
One of the most unexpectedly emotional moments was when a bride burst into tears, not because of the dress, but because she saw herself in a way she never had before: confident, beautiful and truly herself. It reminded me that it’s not just about the dress, it’s about how it makes someone feel. Moments like that stay with you.
12. Complete the sentence: “The future of bridal is…”
Redefined in the best way possible.
