The Basque Waist, Flattery For All Figures

Remaining a dominant style throughout recent collections and signalling a continued appreciation for timeless elegance is the historic basque waist, creating drama through proportion rather than embellishment, providing a refined silhouette. Flattering diverse body types, the basque waist elongates the torso and creates an hourglass silhouette, making it a popular choice amongst brides. With the option of creating drama or soft, sculptural elegance, the basque waist also offers versatility for design and styling, allowing for experimentation of the female form through structure and tailoring.

The Art of the Drop

As predicted by British Vogue in 2024, the dropped waist continues to be a popular bridal trend, maintaining the theme of proportion play. Sitting lower on the hips, it creates a visually extended torso and an effortless, almost undone elegance that contrasts beautifully with fuller skirts or fluid fabrics. The style can create a number of silhouettes, transforming the gown into a sculptural statement when paired with column, fishtail, ballgown or A-line skirts. Additionally, the dropped waist can easily allow for a full skirt to be swapped out for a mini, creating multiple bridal looks on the day of the wedding, making it another popular choice amongst modern brides. 

The New Peplum

Peplum details are also making a quiet comeback, reimagined with a softer, more contemporary edge. Rather than feeling overly decorative, today’s peplums add dimension and movement - an architectural layer that enhances rather than overwhelms and balances drama with softness. The latest collections have integrated the style so seamlessly that you don’t even notice it’s a peplum at first glance. The style is another popular trend that plays on figure proportions, creating a clean, intentional flair, accentuating the hips and adding a soft touch of femininity.

Square necklines continue to hold their place as a modern classic. Clean, flattering and endlessly versatile, they frame the décolletage with quiet confidence, proving that even the simplest lines make the strongest statement. The style can be paired with minimalist slip dresses or voluminous ballgowns, offering a refined, romantic look that echoes timeless elegance.

Texture makes its own statement with pearl and floral embellishments offering depth and drama. These touches bring a richness to bridal looks, as designers have been experimenting with drama, branching out from sleek, minimalist styles. As the light catches these details, the look comes to life in its own unique way, reimagining the modern bridal style once again. 

Heirloom Lace, Reimagined

Vintage lace returns with a renewed sense of relevance, moving beyond nostalgia into something far more directional and intentional. Delicate, intricate, and rich in character, it brings a sense of history to modern silhouettes, whether layered for softness or used with precision for contrast. The effect is romantic but refined, where tradition is not simply referenced, but reworked into something entirely contemporary.
