Can you describe your bridal industry journey?

Since her inception into the global market in 2018, Madi Lane has been capturing the hearts of British and European brides with her modern lace, feminine contemporary silhouettes and unmatched romantic flair. Known for being exclusively inclusive, Madi Lane has been at the forefront of an industry shift, to make modern and stylish designs accessible to everyone, no matter their size. After 20 years in the bridal industry, designer Elizabeth Young sought to create a new label, determined to design gowns that brought a new modern flavour to traditional bridal that were unseen in the mainstream bridal industry at the time. Originally launching within Australia, Madi Lane very quickly garnered a dominant following with Australian brides before venturing to all corners of the world, finding her place in almost every store she visited. With such a tremendous welcome and response in the bridal market, a sister brand Evie Young was born the following year, one that catered to the more fashion-forward bride and designed by Liz. Despite the inception of the pandemic coinciding with Evie Young’s debut launch, she evolved quickly and continues to grow from strength to strength. Now in 2023, the upward journey and adventures continue for the Madi Lane Group with the launch of another label, Jeune Bridal. Created by Liz to be an elevated and more luxurious experience, Jeune will debut on the global stage in the Madi Lane booth at most major industry trade shows this March.

What is your relationship with the UK bridal market like?

Madi Lane and Evie Young have always held close relationship with UK bridal retailers, from day one of the first market season. Creating and growing relationships that are based on the foundational principles of partnership with our UK retailer family has always been at the forefront for us. It is our belief that cultivating the success of our retailers and supporting them to achieve the greatest return on investment possible, allows us to grow together and create bridal magic.

What are the brand’s secrets to success?

Success is easier when you know your audience. Madi Lane and Evie Young are authentic, meaningful and youthful - offering sincerity and approachability. Redefining ‘traditional’ bridal, our designs are catered for the new generation - seeking something they haven’t seen before.

What are some interesting facts about the brands?

Madi Lane, Evie Young and now Jeune pride themselves on being a female-founded and Australian-born company. Created from a necessity for inclusive sizing, we pride ourselves on being exclusively inclusive and being one of the first Australian brands to offer fashion forward and cutting-edge modern designs in sizes 2-28 for all brides. There has always been a strong focus on attainability, creating chic designs for all women of the world; something that a bride can not only dream about, but also wear. Championing brides and their individual distinctions, Madi Lane, Evie Young and Jeune have always held brides at the forefront of their minds during the design, development, and experience process.

What inspired the current collections?

The Fall 2023 collections share a common theme of evolution and femininity, but like the brands themselves, the collections fall on opposite sides of the bridal spectrum.

An evolution in itself, our new ‘Baciami’ collection features 28 elevated and decadent designs created exclusively for the modern bride. Staying true to our romantic and alluring roots, ‘Baciami’ introduces luxurious new fabrics, embellishments of artfully placed sequins, beads and glitter, and layers of embroidered laces with 3D florals. Reminiscent of summers abroad, Madi Lane Bridal presents ‘Baciami’ (‘Kiss Me’), our new collection that tells the story of travel adventures with girlfriends, sharing tales of infatuation and meet-cutes on the streets of exotic towns. Whispers of love-at-first-sight meetings and ‘kiss me’ moments, evolving into daydreams of wedding aisles and happily ever after.

Evie Young’s seventh collection embraces celebration. ‘Gala’ is inspired by the after party of all after parties. A collection dedicated to the opulence of wedding grandeur and all its extravagance, she is an ode to the glamorous, the graceful and the avant-garde. Abundant in finesse, our new collection features 24 modern and intricate couture-inspired designs for the bride collective. Contemporary silhouettes and architectural design elements adorned with luxurious beaded and embroidered laces. Elevated designs embody our modern muses; beautiful individuals who confidently live as they are – masterpieces of their own making. Evie Young’s newest collection includes timeless yet obtainable couture inspired pieces for the brides of tomorrow.

Why is Bridal Week so important to you, and what exciting upcoming plans do you have for this year?

Bridal Week is a key part of each year for us. It is always exciting to meet up and spend time with our wonderful retailers, meet potential new retailers, and share the collection and campaign we are so excited about. There is no rush quite like presenting new designs and having retailers be just as in love as we are.

2023 brings new collections and designs as always, but this year is particularly special as it introduces our new brand Jeune Bridal. Jeune Bridal is the sophisticated sister of Madi Lane and Evie Young. She is the unexpected with curated maximalism and artfully sculpted silhouettes, with unapologetic decadence designed to enhance the beauty of modern brides. She is alluringly feminine and powerful, with a fierce individuality that sets her apart from the next.
